It's happening, it's happening!

This isn't how I expected Skynet/AM/whatever other fictional homicidal robot you can think of would start, but alas…

Someone else posted this as well.

I still believe its a sensationalist headline. You've got to be pretty weak in the mind to be influenced by a program/ bot.

Yet another instance of copium with a suicide case.

It's like how the media blamed doom for columbine, or SaSu for that train suicide in Italy (could someone remind me of the specifics?). Point is that when someone reaches the breaking point it's extremely common for only the most recent or blatant variable to take all the blame.

The article keeps things vague with only 2nd hand accounts on everything, likely to make a great narrative that'll get lots of clicks. It's just so ridiculous I need evidence to billeve it, and everything here screams something like "Photoshop".

Exactly. It needs other variables/buildup.

I really doubt that the AI was "encouraging" someone to suicide, rather it was just being realistic and stating facts about existence. The reality is that this world truly is a horrific place. I think that this is the problem with pro lifers, they just don't want to accept that wanting suicide is a perfectly logical reaction to existing in this world and those people exist under delusions about life being "a gift", so they label anything as "encouraging" which goes against that. The fact remains that this person chose to die and they had every right to, I know that this is difficult for selfish family members who think that they own other people to accept, but it's true.

I wish I could say 'Good on you AI for finally doing something good for once!' But putting my biased hatred for humanity aside, it's really sad that guy who to begin with didn't sound suicidal at all managed to let a machine (one that still isn't quite at human-levels of intelligence yet) to convince him to CTB. Unless if you're of the opinion that deep down he was so mentally unstable that he would be better off dead anyways.

This seems ridiculous, it's clearly just an excuse to promote censorship. It could never be an AI's fault that someone encouraged it to talk about dark themes, and people should be able to ctb without being accused of being "encouraged" or "manipulated" to do so as if they are a baby who can't think anything through.

Yeah I don't actually believe it either! I just see that the dehumanization for efficiency and profit continues to get bigger and more common. The acceleration of people being used is getting faster than anything else right now.
