A Big YAY from me.............if this life is the only thing and existence then wouldn't be worth any of us being born in first place.............our bodies are not us but our spirit is and you can just extinguish energy of spirit, its all vibrations and they keep resonating all the time.
I'm probably one of the only yayers. I read a lot about NDEs, past lives, and afterlife stuff because it interests me. Most of the stuff I read/see gear toward some type of reincarnation, but not the type of reincarnation we think about. I've heard that suicides are not in any way punished, but the souls of people who kill themselves are given a time to heal in isolation. I know nobody really knows, but I hear lots of strong opinions from those who don't believe/don't want an afterlife, and I always like to bring light to the possibility of one.
Some good words here and I think along the same lines as you. :halo:

Watch this and you would know my answer

YAY²

The character you've chosen in this life is only a small part of your whole being, your soul. Maybe at some point you will choose a life in which you embody a king or a queen on another planet. Or you choose a life in a cat's body, where you just eat, sleep and shit in the bed of your owner all day long.

The life you live now was planned by yourself; maybe the goal was to die by suicide.

But at the end of the day, everyone can believe and say what they want, as long as they accept other opinions and consciously harm no one. We will only see who is right, when the time has come.

May I ask how did you come up with this conclusion?

That is my opinion, based on experience. But if it feels better to you, you can also call me a hopeless dreamer.

No vote for nothingness here; because nothingness cannot be conceived of, it cannot exist .there is nothing spiritual about this idea—-we ":reboot" at death...and so it goes, friends...
ON AND ON AND ON....

Do you have any evidence for any of those claims?

I'll be honest I don't knock religion. I'll support my wife being Catholic and will go with her to mass. We don't go every week, just when she feels like it. Her parents have been accepting of my belief in honestly nothing. It'd be cool to go to a place where I could see my grandparents again, it's just not something my brain could grasp in believing. I find the different religions in the world interesting to learn about what they believe, and why they believe in set religion. I grew up questioning religions stories at a young age. That's when my parents knew I'd not be the religious type. It gives people a vision that they're going to some magical place, instead of a hole in the ground. I'm for one being cremated. I always say get me a nice vase, and sit me in the house somewhere nice. I think that's better than having to go drive to some cemetery to stand at my grave for a few minutes then have to drive back. I'll always be around then!

Nay.
If there's an afterlife.... that sucks. Why end this life if you'll continue to suffer (perhaps) in the other?

I have read nde stories and find them fascinating...if they prove one thing it's that consciousness is very tenacious, hanging on stubbornly through it all. I don't deny the reality of NDES at all.

I believe in Reincarnation.

When I was 6 years old, I used to have dreams that I jumped off of a high balcony and ctb.

I do have a belief I killed myself in a past life before and I planned/am trying to stick around this time so that I would not have to repeat this struggle over again. Unfortunately, the road ahead is looking like I'll have to repeat the cycle.

This. This is what i am afraid of. Like by me dying, I am tricking my miserable life. That i was supposed to suffer but I ended it. So the cycle of suffering continues, and I go into another life and suffer again and ctb again. And on it goes like a loop.
Like I am to suffer, but I am tricking my suffering by CTB. And it won't stop

I really hope that there is something good afterwards. Flowers and trees and warm weather. If reincarnation is real, I hope I come back as something beautiful.

There must be something. At least i wouldnt count on "nothing forever". We have "experienced" nothingness already and yet we are here - to believe that everything will end after death is not based on logic. Either next incarnation, or the same life, or spirit world, there must be something - what we are basically is PRESENCE, by definition I only can be present.

I relate to this:

I love the idea of nothingness, but I fear it won't be that easy. Life itself will go on after our individual death. It's like if you would want to delete the internet by throwing your computer out of the window. (It won't work.)
I believe that our ego will just be ripped appart an dissolve like a fizzy tablet in a glas of water.

Only intuitively, I must admit. Yet quantum physics seem to point the way. A good analysis of this idea can be found in the works of scientists such as Robert Lanza, whose ideas somehow involve the bio centric universe. That is, you have created the universe with your consciousness, not the other way around.

I disagree with the showman hawking. His overly simplistic analysis fails to account for consciousness and its power to outlive its maker. When you or I die a universe is annihilated with us. This is because we are destined to live again and again. I am not a religious person and cherish no god. Reincarnation, however, is a reality.

Does anyone on here believe in any sort of afterlife? I know in some cultures and religions, suicide is considered hell-like and you won't go to heaven if you CTB. Has anyone died and seen a tunnel of light or anything? And then came back?

Open to both the possibilities here. Personally though, hoping it doesn't because its existence implies that we can't escape suffering.

It's complicated, I think. I personally believe in reincarnation, which makes me worry about ctb....what if I just immediately get reincarnated into a new body upon death?

Yayy!! I believe in the afterlife, whatever it may be but there is somethin' beyond science, beyond this world and beyond life and death. I dunno muchh about near-death experiences but I believe in it and I'll soon discover and live in the afterlife-world as well. I just hope it wouldn't suck like this one does..

people don't like dramatic negative changes that are permanent and cant stand that when they die they wont see what happens next or not to be able to know their children are safe
