Yes, I agree. If a hell exists, it is this life. The fact that there is unlimited potential for suffering is the thing that scares me. I do not believe in any religion/any afterlife. There is no evidence of it.

Actually its easy to know how hell and other concepts are man-made.

Whatever one hears from others is an output made by them. The next step should be verification and proving its truth. If there is no proof or verification then whatever they said is man-made. All of those constructs fall with simple information analysis.

Even without that, why would anyone believe what humans say without thinking? The human brain is a machine of illusions and lies and they always lie to each other. So for widespread constructs like those, its definitely a lie.

Current and historical horrors are so normalized and accepted, people don't seem to register them and keep creating more victims.

We have a way to end perpetual human suffering and we're not taking it - we are extremely irrational beings.

At the same time there's no free-will, we couldn't have acted otherwise; this reality is truly f-up.
