I am addicted to binge eating and consuming doom content about the current happenings with the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis in Europe. It's super messed up I know, but it gives me a strange safety sensation and a comforting feeling that we're on the verge of a nuclear war and it's all gonna be over soon. If you have any links/media that support this doom scenario, please feel free to share...

It can be comforting to us to fantasize the world might end one day. Maybe it's hard to imagine what happy people are like.

It's time, as civilizations have been wiped out in the past, for our current civilization to be approaching its end...

Kind of like me but I have been thinking more about the 20-30mins or even an hour of suffering that would leave no regrets and no time to think of nuclear wars for me to consider and then rest of the mankind can continue to worry or feel happy. Do you know what comes after death? I am trying to think how it would feel Like nothing really. I don't believe in god nor do I pray but I want to know if I would be able to regret things. either way I would love to sleep anywhere as long I am invisible. By the way yes I was thinking of it last when the war started but no more I just fantasized about stuff but it was a way to cope and tell me either way it doesn't matter you are gonna end do will I someday. I really am waiting and hoping. I just need benzos and prop for next month then I am gone

I think it could very well happen, but it's way too early yet. IMO Mutually Assured Destruction will keep us safe for now.

The problem will be is when when humanity / certain empires are at risk of extinction and have nothing left to lose, or when resources become so low that they are are used to make plays for them.

And this will come in my opinion. The droughts seen through the world this year are the early warning signs for battles for water which I believe will come with the climate crisis. There are documentaries on youtube, and I'm not talking about the 12 view rants from a crackpot conspiracist ranting onto a webcam. Check out documentary channels like DW which has some great content on current events which are huge warnings for the future. Genuinely scary shit.

And if we can't switch to renewables before we run out of fossil fuels (Which let's face it, is very unlikely with late stage capitalism), when we start getting waves of mass migration from the climate crisis that will push developed nations to their limits... If you're still around at that time, just make sure you're standing outside when the bombs fall so you're not there for the afermath.

Give it 25-50 years and I think you might have a genuine concern. Until then, stay off the 24 hour news cycle which will do anything for a piece of the current world leader's dick waving contests.

You are not alone in looking at the world from this perspective.

See your next point - we are already there.

You should have written this post 25-50 years ago

Those who are worried about the future would probably be wise to prepare for a world somewhat similar to the one in the "The Road" movie from 2009 - hopefully, they will find a way through this chaos. As for the rest of us, our immediate future is probably what we are looking forward to.

I'm not judging, just chiming in to say that I am a full fledged doomer myself and want things to explode. Or not. I'm conflicted about this.

Let the world burn.

Or... Hmm. πŸ€”

I've become a bit of a doomer. Never used to be like this. Too much isolation, too much pain and sickness. When I really think about it though, I don't actually want millions to die and suffer. I just want to be wiped of out existence without having to do it myself.
