I guess one point of view is it's better to be on this site and find away to ctb in peace, the least painful way you can.. rather than take 100 paracetamol and suffer then die. This site has educated me and comforted me and no doubt did the same for Shawn. I know I'm mentally ill but I am still allowed to choose.. and I'm not stupid. I doubt she was either. She was an adult who made an educated decision.. educated because this site existed.

Nobody here is pressurised to CTB. Neither is anybody encouraged to do so, neither discouraged. It is down to free will and free decission.

My thoughts exactly.

Anybody claiming that without this site Shawn would be alive now needs to think again. She could have died a horrible, slow and painful death, she could have failed in her attempt but been left disabled and in physical pain, instead she found the information she needed to be able to make an informed choice and in order to achieve a peaceful, painless death.

She wouldn't have come here if she hasn't already wanted to ctb, and wanted to research ways to do it properly. She didn't do it impulsively and I respect that even if her parents can't.

Indeed. Morons outside do not understand that an actual decision to die and carrying it through is some serious business with no place for impulse. Impulsive attempters wake up in hospitals.

It is always easy to shift the blame to someone else. Just look at tragedies and public appeals, they always blame someone else for their own failure or neglect.

I think this needs to be said right here, right now. I recently was a danger to myself and beyond Hotline Help. I needed to be at a crisis center. I called 911, I was bullied and harassed by the local police, when I got into the crisis center I was nearly assaulted by another patient who managed to smuggle in a tin can of Ginger Ale with a hole in the top. The staff should have caught that. But because I was nice to the dude and poured it into a cup for him, I was working there more than the actual staff. Then he got aggressive with a male staff person who basically yelled at him for bringing in the can, which idiot should have caught. I had to run into another room, and they STILL LET THIS DUDE MOVE FREELY ABOUT THE CRISIS CENTER. I had to practice barricading my room with the chair. I ended up signing out AMA, and they dumped me out on the street with no ride, and I had just enough money to get a cab. Only the cab never came and I sat in a dangerous neighborhood all night until 4 AM when a kind stranger gave me a ride.

Now, the hospital is notoriously the worst in my area, but every GODDAMN DOCTOR, PSYCHIATRIST AND THERAPIST will tell you on their voicemail to call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. So Shattos, if you're still trolling us, what the fuck do I do now? I tell you what - I'm too pissed to die now. You are a HUGE part of the problem. I'm broke, but intelligent AF. I have some decent credentials and I obviously like to write. I would NEVER encourage someone to commit suicide ever, ever, ever. I've even called 911 on a couple of people.

But helping someone leave peacefully is now aiding? You're pointing the finger at us, but you need to look at the 3 pointing back at you. I've prayed for your family, I let another person on here help me see things from your point of view, and I've tried to live and let live. I've spent the last month in and out of "treatment" and it was hell. I will get into details later SS family, but for now, this goddamn message needs to get out. Stop bullying suicidal people!!! I hate a bully.

How do you know that her mother is to blame for her suicide or that she saw no love from her family.

What makes you so sure that Shawna's mum is to blame for her death or that Shawna got no love from her family?.
There seems to be an assumption in some posts on this thread that mothers or close family are undoubtedly in some way to blame if their child attempts to kill themself. That isn't nessecarily the case.
You can have a good childhood and upbringing full of love and support that continues on into adulthood and still develop crippling, life ending depression (strange but horribly true).
