I don't know why but i felt compelled to write this short story today. I hope you like it.
It was a quiet afternoon in late October as i felt the urge to go to the city park. I didn't think much of it at the time as i was either always too numb and tired to think at all or just pondering my lonely existence. When i stepped outside my apartment block, the cool autumn air brushed against my stoney face and a slight shiver ran down my spine but i started to walk anyway pushed on by the urge i felt deep inside of me.
As i passed by the occasional passerby i thought, afraid if they would notice me and my scared expression, despite, it wasn't there as i had perfected the art of being invisible to others and hide my pain for years. Then i arrived at my destination, it was peacefull almost tranquil i thought to myself as i entered the Park through the big ornamented gate. Light brown, yellowish leaves slowly made their way to the ground from the big old trees surrounding the trail arround the still laying lake.
I sat down on one of the benches and sighed. I felt relief and calm suddenly coming over me without being truly aware of it.
As i sat there watching some people or animals occupied with their usual routines or enjoying the serenity of the fall. I didn't notice the woman that was approaching me wich was not made easier due to the angle she came from, a dim street light around the corner lit the way. When i noticed her she was standing nearly next to me and i thought to myself "oh please can i not be left in peace". She asked me if she could sit next to me and i replied with a quiet "yes of course" as i always do because confrontaion would be too stressfull.
After a while i was back alone to my thoughts and didn't notice the presence of her anymore as it grew dark. The Park must have been almost empty at the time she made ready to leave and i don't know why but i felt a bit of dread coming up in me. She stood up turned her face to me and just asked me "don't you have to catch the bus"? In that moment i kicked the stool away from me and dropped down feeling the rope tightening around my neck but feeling free. Finally.
