I wanted to share with you guys a good recommendation of movie to watch:
The Crucible
This is actually a play written by Arthur Miller in 1953.
The play tells the story of Massachusetts' historical town of Salem during the Salem's witch trials, a series of trials that lead to countless of people being found guilty of witchcraft and sentenced to death.
Basically it talks about how the mob mentality often leads to illogical and unethical actions. Most of the times, these easily manipulated by someone seeking an Unjust Justice, A.K.A Vengeance.
I quote this from Wikipedia:
"Miller wrote the play as an allegory for McCarthyism, when the United States government persecuted people accused of being communists.
...
Miller felt that this production was too stylized and cold, and the reviews for it were largely hostile (although The New York Times noted "a powerful play [in a] driving performance")"
It seems at that time, The New York Times' journalism understood, at least to some extent, the importance of analysing things before releasing an article.
I don't know if times has changed, but as far as I know, gathering information, analysing things and all point of view before is essential for to provide the people the facts, as they are. Never release something without a careful examination, as misinformation was always a problem in the world.
It is especial nowadays, as information reaches people all over the world.
Maybe something has changed in journalism of today. Or maybe was never about presenting the facts.
The mob mentality, in their turn, keeps manipulating people. Driven by their anger, lust for power, pleasure, in short only their own goals.
Today, their lies reaches people worldwide.
I tell this, because it's obvious that minorities are still oppressed, sometimes, people that are already tormented, disabled, ill, traumatized, they try to speak, but their voices, already weakened, are shut with gags, preventing they to speak, their feet chained with weighted shackles and their hands tied to their back.
Even after death, these souls are ignored.
I tell this, because we use to wish our dearly loved ones that sadly departed from this existence peace in their slumber.
But maybe they will never find peace, so long their living dearly ones, keeps their drowned in their agony.
Anyway. It's an awesome play.
I just thought of sharing
