The bartender asks: "Why the long face?"
The horse breaks down crying, confessing that even the smallest task feels overwhelming, none of his actions are motivated by an active desire but rather by passive dread of the negative consequences of not accomplishing certain tasks. He doesn't eat because he likes food but to avoid hunger, he doesn't talk to others because he enjoys their company but because he fears loneliness. He never asked to be born, if he had a choice he would have refused being forcefully gathered into a pile of meat in favor of being an unconscious part of the clockwork that keeps the universe in motion. The struggle might give meaning to one's life but he never asked for a meaning. It is irrelevant whether life gets better or worse, Mr Horse is not interested in either outcome, he just wants it to stop. He is tired. He doesn't want to play the game anymore and the response he gets when he says that is "you just have to get better at the game". Nobody understands. Mr Horse is all alone even though he is always surrounded by people. Nothing feels real anymore but maybe that's just because life is an illusion generated by his senses but even that thought is a result of his subjective experience. Mr Horse is tired and confused. He wishes his consciousness would be wiped out so he can be at peace once again.
"It is what it is, i guess" adds Mr Horse, after having 2 pints of beer and 5 shots of vodka.
Mr horse was found the following day, hanging from a tree in the nearby forest.
