Today I had an appointment with my doctor, since my already pretty bad depression spiked hard those fast few weeks. Sadly, the doc was sick himself, so this substitute doctor called me up instead. I briefly told her about my long history with depression and especially how it got way worse lately and how I started to drink to cope. Her expert advice, all the help she could offer was this:
-Clean your room
-Find a girlfriend
It was almost funny, man. Can't make this shit up.

I told a "mental health professional" once that I was a biromantic asexual antinatalist non-cisperson who wanted to adopt. They told me to marry a member of the opposite sex, have sex with them and then have biological kids. So I can totally see your doctor saying what they said.

It's like they are robots who scan for specific words and then print out a pre-made answer. Kinda like how when you talk to an AI bot and say something like "My teacher told me today that her uncle committed suicide ten years ago" and the AI just sees "suicide" and says "Don't commit suicide, call a suicide hotline! Here's a list of materials for you to read if you are feeling suicidal!".

Here a lot say "Go take a walk!" as if walking outside would instantly cure everything. It's stupid that even if I have broken my leg they still just tell me to go take a walk.

Interesting that your doctor assumed your sexual preferences. Some doctors are amazing but some are detached from the pain people.feel. When i described my pain, i was prescribed laxatives!.

I hate when they do that. They also assumed that they didn't have a clean room. If I got a dime every time someone assumed something of me instead of just asking or saying something like "Are you dating anyone?" or "Is your room clean?" I'd be a zillionaire.

I read about a person who had cancer in his stomach and the doctor said that it's not a bad or dangerous cancer lump because he wasn't bleeding. He would have most likely died if he hadn't lied that he bleeds. "Yeah, you have cancer but it isn't dangerous if it isn't bleeding".

I also hate a lot those "How much pain you are feeling on a scale of 1-10?" It doesn't matter if you say you are feeling no pain or you are feeling infernal pain, they don't give a shit.

I hope you were able to find something that helped your pain.

One time I went in because I was having trouble with depression and anxiety after my cat died. I saw a doctor I'd never seen before. He laughed with delight saying it was so cool because he was going to be giving a talk about grief later that day. "I bet you'll be angry next," he said excitedly, referring I guess to the stages of grief. He tossed me a prescription for ativan and told me to come back in two weeks because I was probably depressed. Needless to say I never went back. I don't know what planet these doctors are from.

Because they give you so much more problems you'll be too busy thinking about problems anymore
Here a lot say "Go take a walk!" as if walking outside would instantly cure everything

Instead it only takes you closer to what you want to run away from

I have a doctor's appointment May 13 and this is all I think about happening. It'll be my fourth doctor so my hopes are not up. I'm sorry you had such a laughable appointment, that's a waste of time and money

Probably worst doctor I've seen was this one who assumed I was addicted to Marijuana and that I had depression because I ran out of it or something. Btw it was my first appointment with him, never said a single word during it (just nodding to his questions) tbh I just think that he wanted to prescribe some medicinal Marijuana or sell me some of it.

Thankfully my mother didn't force me to go with him again, but still made me visit someone else which still was very useless.
I don't know what that man was thinking, I don't do drugs, nor smoke or drink, ffs I don't even like coffee 😂. Also if you're asking yourself where in the world can a doctor come to this conclusion, well... Latin America.

My first guess is Uranus, considering how engorged with shit they are. Hell, they're practically bursting from the seams!

Too bad retriever breeds can't be trained to sniff out all the quacks.

Maybe she is watching the Jordan Peterson stuff too much? That is what he says.

Then we found out the guy is a benzo addict - so obviously cleaning the room wasn't enough for him

Why Me?

A lot of these posts made me laugh, because it confirmed what I already knew about most of these doctors. This is why I don't want to waste the energy that don't even have to go to another one unless I really medication, and have no choice.

Fun fact: a couple years ago, I had such a bad experience with a psychiatrist that I reported him to the state, and got his license revoked. He hasn't been able to practice psychiatry in years. His court papers are online when you Google his name. I love reading them, because he was so arrogant, and crazy. He was a nut job! Somebody had to shut him down, and I'm glad I did it. It felt good having important authorities believe me, investigate my claims, and do what needed to be done. It's one of the only real accomplishments that I can cherish.

What doctors don't get is that having stable relationships, going to the gym, cleaning your room, etc. are symptoms of a healthy mentality. They arent the cause of the healthy mentality. And plenty of people with seemingly perfect healthy lives end up committing suicide.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is all I can really think of as a treatment.

These doctors have no clue. A lot of doctors are lousy. Anyway what medicine have done for treatments for patients:

1. Lobotomie
2. Giving radioactive stuff to patient as a ,,cure"
3. Electroshocks in psychiatry
4. bloodletting
5. Giving mercury for siphillis

I have even less trust in psychiatry.

Pretty much. Psychiatry is mostly quackery.

"I'm feeling kind of depressed"
- Here! take these mind altering SSRI's with a million side effects, and which will make you statistically more likely to kill yourself!

And then they get kickbacks from Big Pharma.

Psychiatry isnt a real field of science. Given each brain is unique, it is impossible to have controlled experimental trials. All psychological trials are guesswork.

Just like how doctors started the Opiod epidemic, psychiatrists are starting an SSRI epidemic.
