A colleague at work makes me hate life

I love my job. But every day is made worse by one man- who is in his 40s, but the same role as me. He has been in the firm for some time though, while I'm relatively new.

Every day, he taunts me and passes a snide comment about me. He firmly believes he does as a joke. I let it slide every time, and don't bother to construct appropriate retaliatory insults. This man makes me hate work and life.

The only positive I can take from this is that this I shouldn't die earlier than this old c*nt. It's one of the reasons I fight through life every day.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. Is he offensive to everyone? Maybe he's just a prick! You shouldn't have to put up with that though.

Once, at a place I worked at, one colleague came up and muttered something about another. She saw this happening and came over and confronted me. She was like- I won't take any nonsense. If you're going to make nasty remarks, I'll take it straight to the manager. I actually admired her for that. That she wasn't prepared to take any shit. She calmed down after that and explained that the other colleague and her didn't get on.

If you're going to have to work there though- I think maybe you should say something to the guy. Doesn't have to be rude but even just saying that you know he's probably joking but, it's a sensitive subject for you- so- could he stop it please? Maybe he doesn't realise he's being offensive. He probably does though and I think it's fair enough to ask him to stop. Sometimes people will show you more respect when you stand up to them.

You all have to go there to do a job. You don't have to like one another but, people should at least be professional. That's what I've always felt. Office politics/ work politics often becomes the worst part of a job in my experience.

Yeah I feel you, work sucks, but mostly it's people at work that suck. Having to pretend to get along but all the while scheming and stabbing you in the back. At least if it was just work it would be bearable, but people make it a different type of torture everyday.

I've gotten into some shit with such men, they think you're timid and weak until you show your teeth. Then they really show their hatred of women. If I could've gotten away with it some of those fuckers would've gotten spat in the face and stabbed in the gut
