Meaninglessness
Existence is absolutely meaningless

I usually envy people who have committed suicide. I have suffered for a long time and I read about people who have succeeded in ending their sufferings. My years of suffering have been meaningless suffering. So why am I still alive? This isn´t only my fault. I haven´t chosen to exist and I don´t want to exist anymore. I only want to live and die with dignity. People shouldn´t be forced to live when life is meaningless suffering. But we live in a society where human life only should be prolonged, not shortened. The society has removed peaceful ways to leave life and what remains are the painful methods. The society regards suicide as something illegal and adominable. If I go to a forest and try to kill myself and someone sees me, they will call the police. I live in a world where people are expected to die from old age. Physician assisted suidice in Switzerland is not suitable for everyone. But a peaceful death should be respected as a fundamental human right for all people at anytime regardless of age.
According to the World Health Organization, 873 000 people take their lives every year on Earth. Succeeding in suicide is the hardest thing that you can do. The fear of death keep us alive because we are programmed to live. You also know that the method can fail and therefore you may become disabled. So how do all these humans manage to commit suicide? Only the dead can answer that question. But I will try my best. How to find the courage to die deliberately at a time and a place of your own choosing - I suppose that´s what all members on Sanctioned Suicide want to know.
1. Suicide is an act of supreme bravery. Some of the strongest people throughout history have committed suicide. However, the modern society frames suicide as cowardly.
2. A solution is to choose a method that doesn´t trigger the survival instinct. But most of these methods have been made illegal and inaccessible by politicians, due to prescription laws. Otherwise, there wouldn´t have been trouble about the right to die.
3. You must suffer from severe depression. You won´t do it if you aren´t depressed enough. Once you are depressed enough, the depression overrides the fear of death. There is no other way. You can´t overcome it with logic or as a conscious decision.
4. Suicide has nothing to do with courage. The survival instinct is only trying to protect you. When the pain of living or the meaninglessness of life becomes too big, the pain or the meaninglessness will overcome the amount of protection the body can provide.
