How lucky she is!
A lot of people I follow on social media are radically opposed to euthanasia because they think it's a way to annihilate "unproductive" people. It would cost less money for the State to simply kill people who are a burden to society because they're unproductive and receive disabilities/unemployment allowance. They're not wrong, euthanasia can be used for eugenic purposes.
But on the other hand, well, I'd be so happy if euthanasia for mentally ill people was legal in my country. I don't want to live anymore and there are peaceful ways of dying available. The freedom to decide what happens to your body is a fundamental human right. Why isn't it observed?
Anyway, on a global scale, I understand why some people are reluctant to euthanasia because of its possible (and probable) eugenic purpose : it will kill the poor, the disabled. But on an individual scale, if someone wants to end their life, they should have the right to, no matter the reason why. It's just a fundamental human right.
