While I was taking a walk today I came across a cold missing persons case I heard about around 2 years ago.
Skye Budnick.
I was drawn in with how I could relate to her. I write poetry on occasion, like learning languages and am a casual anime watcher just like her.
I also have felt very isolated at times.
I think what really spoke to me about her is how similar our lives will be in a way. As I've mentioned I'm planning on leaving soon, I won't be telling any of my family where but I have given some of my siblings a heads up months ago and will be leaving a note specifically for my mother.
A part of me wants to believe Skye found her happy ending and it isn't completely ruled out, but what I've come to believe is that she wanted to cross visiting Japan off her bucket list before committing.
You can look into her case as well but why I made this deduction is by the fact she pulled less than a thousand dollars from her bank account, probably just enough to get to Japan and get a cheap hotel/inn.
She wasn't qualified for a studying abroad visa and from the what her family could see from logging into her Gmail and Facebook it seems unlikely she had a job in place there once she arrived.
I looked in the comments under the video that was digging into this case and everyone was saying she was in a cult that took advantage of her…? That was the last thing on my mind when I was listening too the case, but like I said she wasn't messaging anyone from Japan or messages that really led to anywhere, she didn't even have a phone.
Backtracking to why this case stuck out to me, Skye inspired me to continue trying to learn Spanish
If she can learn another language while going to college I can too!
I didn't know her personally, but from how others described her and conversations either friends she seemed like a very humble person who just wanted to find her place in the world and though she may no longer be of it I feel she made a difference, to her family, and in ways she never expected.
Below is some Spanish phrases I practiced today, I'm going to see if my pronunciation is good by practicing on my Hispanic bf lol
Te contare in secreto, te amo
