Those are pretty good questions that none has an definitive aswner to. We can only speculate.

Why ask why. Will knowing all the answers to who, how and why. Really change much? We are here now and we gotta deal with it. I know it sucks from time to time. Sucks real bad sometimes. But we can get through this.

That line of thought doesn't agree with human's innate curiosity.

How come we exist?
A bunch of mutant fish crawled out of the sea and kept fucking increasingly mutated versions of each other until eventually generations of constant breeding between mutated species conjured a small group of bigheaded apes with slightly more awareness than the average life form.

Why is there something instead of nothing?
Because somebody got bored.

How life came to be?
Carbon molecules decided they were lonely and tried to bond with other elements.

If God created the universe, who crated God?
God obviously hatched from an egg that was laid by God. He created himself for the shits and giggles.

Source on all of these: Dude, trust me bro. It's still a better answer than humans are ever going to get.

I do not believe in any God personally and I have no idea as to why we exist. I believe that life should not be a thing in the first place, it is completely unnecessary. Life is just meaningless suffering, the amount of pain that exists is horrifying to think about. We were all perfectly fine not existing until we were forced to live, to never exist means to never suffer.

This was a question that really bothered me a few years ago, primarily because I was in a very religious area so it was always at the forefront of my mind. But at some point I just stopped caring. Like WadeingThru said, knowing probably won't change much (unless it fundamentally changes our understanding of everything). Always asking about it didn't help me any, though.

That being said, I do think it's fun to talk about. I think no matter the theory, you can always ask "Well, what was before that?" Or, "How did that get there, then?" I honestly think the best response to those answers is some kind of omnipotent being that exists in some dimension outside of time, whether it be God or Dr. Manhattan, because it's hard to argue with something beyond our comprehension.

My own beliefs don't have a definitive origin of the universe, either. The Big Bang is where things tend to start for me, but I'm not very knowledgable on it and I don't know how much it answers for how empty space existed in the first place. What matters most to me (and probably to a lot of others on this forum) is that there is no reason for why we're here. We just are. And for a good amount of us, it sucks.

I think another fun question to ask would be this: How would our lives change if we DID know the origin of the universe?
Religions being proven right or wrong would be the big ones, but I'm curious if there's anything else we could take away.

I am obsessed with this question and it causes me a lot of pain. Everyone always says "who cares", but how could you not care or be able to function without an answer? I spent a lot of time searching but I never found an answer.
I am not super interested in the promises of life. Food, drugs, relationships, etc, none of it is worth it on its own to me. I just don't really care about dumbed down, hedonistic pleasure... to live, I have to have a reason. And people think I'm crazy for this.... Idk.

At least from my own perspective, I say "who cares" because I don't think there is an answer. It's my own opinion that there is no "Grand Design" to us, and there is no higher meaning to life. For some people, that's okay. They're able to create their own meaning, whether it's family, helping others, work, relationships, etc. And that's enough for them. But for me and a lot of other people (including you, from what I understand) we need more. But I don't think there is more, and I don't think looking into the origin of the universe will help us find any meaning.

Matter can neither be created, nor destroyed. Primacy of existence vs. Primary of Consciousness. In the Aristotelian view, the universe always was, there was no "creation" (meaning, no creation of something out of nothing, contra the Platonic view).

To put it another way, instead of a "prime Consciousness"/God creating the universe out of nothing, existence already was, and consciousness arose from it.

Think of it this way: If there was nothing, what would happen? I think the only thing that could happen is something. And since there is no time when there is nothing, you would have an eternity for that something to happen which basically guarantees that eventually something will happen. Once the first thing happens, the crack in the egg so to speak, it leads to another thing, and another thing and so on. Leading to more and more things and complexity and eventually getting to where we are today. God didn't create the Universe, God is the Universe. God is like a force of nature, it just is. It is everything. Each and every thing is a piece of God separated from the whole, trying to reunite. I think it is very helpful to understand these things because it helps us on our journey towards reuniting with God. It helps understand who we are and what we are supposed to be doing.

I'm more interested in what was before the universe started. One thing I do find annoying—simulation theory. I don't do god, never have, just not compatible with science as the religionists would have it. But simulation theory, by default, means there's a creator. And given our puniness and ineptitude, an entity capable of the sort of computing power required to simulate a universe and consciousness—well that would certainly appear god-like by comparison.

Try to wrap your mind around this then. There was no "before" time was created, time didn't exist until the Big Bang. So it doesn't really make sense to ask what was "before" that. Stephen Hawking explains it way better than I ever could, he was the first one I heard speaking on this subject and it kind of blew my mind.

I can't! I've read that, and my tiny brain just can't pierce it. It gives me a really weird, floaty feeling. Another one is how all the matter in the universe was once so densely compacted it was much smaller than the head of a pin…

Thats the issue. For all you know you could be a brain in a bathtub in infinite nothingness, all you know is what you've seen and been taught, everything else is imagination. I pray that after we die we end our experience in this universe, but really who knows? thats up to us to find out.

perhaps we don't have the capacity of knowing the answers to the big questions, thats not to say we shouldn't speculate on possibilities...but its kinda like expecting your cat to change the spark plugs on your car when its capacity limit is chasing rats... but then again i have no idea about anything.

its not fair, if you think about it. nobody actually wanted to be born, to be brought into this world of suffering. its just your soul being shoved into a new vessel for a new chance. we should be able to choose the life we wanna live, then we can understand that the grass isnt greener on the other side. so, the universe is just the play of all superior beings who enjoy seeing us suffer.
