I created a "Love / Hate" list of my likes and dislikes about people and life, for my own amusement, inspired by Columbine shooter Eric Harris' website. I don't know if the website is still up, but a segment of it contained a list of short rants following him saying "You know what I hate?" and "You know what I love?" His hates were little things like "people who pronounce espresso "expresso"" and "people who stand in the middle of the hallway and obstruct the pathway for others" and stuff along those lines.
DISCLAIMER: I do not look up to the Columbine shooters as heroes and I do not condone the actions or promote the hateful remarks of Eric Harris or Dylan Klebold. I used to be interested in the Columbine shooting and so I researched information about it and came across things like Eric's website.
Anyway, I just thought it would be fun to vent my own pet peeves because I am frequently frustrated by these things on a regular basis and this frustration causes me unpleasantness which I would like not to occur anymore. I wish little things didn't get to me so much and I could just shrug them off without negatively judging other people, thinking that my ways and my opinions are better, because I would like to overcome my "sinful" tendency towards pride.
You know what I hate?
People who say "literally" to describe everything that happens. This is one of those millennial things (There are a lot of millennial criticisms on this list, although mind you, I myself am a millennial). The word has completely lost its meaning. People should either omit the word entirely (because the sentence would convey the same information, only less nonsense) or use words like "completely" or "totally" instead because those words would be more correct.
*I'm not very mad while I'm writing this which unfortunately I think forfeits the appropriate snarky/hostile tone of this post, but oh well... I've been meaning to make this thread anyway.*
You know what I hate?
People with the undercut man-bun haircuts. You know, mainly college guys these days. It looks SO STUPID! I don't think I could ever be friends with somebody who has that haircut. You have to be a complete bozo to get one of those. People must get it just to follow the trend because "thinking it looks cool" is something I just can't believe people could think. ANOTHER thing is these septum rings that people are getting. They look totally out of place - it would look fine on a goth who has a lot of other piercings, rings, studs and facial ornaments of the such, you know, that "hot topic" kind of look, but now it's like, just regular looking people will get them who have nothing "alternative" about their appearance. It just looks random and dumb!
You know what I hate?
People who are always on their smartphones. Looking down at it during every spare second. Doing what? Social media? How could anything like that be so capturing or amusing? I don't understand the utility of these multiple platforms anyway, like Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat... Why have a site exclusively for images, or for videos, when you can do everything on Facebook? You can do anything that Twitter, Instagram etc. does all on one platform - Facebook. I don't do any of it anymore. I don't even watch YouTube videos anymore because of the recommendation lists and the directionless viewing it could cause. I use a "go-phone" with an actual keyboard (no touch screen) which only sends/receives texts and calls. That's all a phone should be for. Need the internet? Get to a computer. Need GPS? Buy a map.

People who wear airpods all the time! Or mainly they'll just wear one! Doing what, listening to music? Are you serious? During all of your conversations? People who are working as cashiers at the retail store I work at wear them which should be completely unacceptable. How rude it is to be talking to someone while only giving them part of your attention. The other part of your attention goes to half-ass audio quality music? What kind of way to listen to music is that anyway? Come on, I'm all for music, I have over 300,000 mp3s on my hard drives, but I think being one of those "one airpod" people is just abusing the use of music. I only listen to music with proper headphones on my laptop or through the speakers in my car while I'm driving.

People who don't push in their chairs when leaving a table or a desk. What are you, a complete moron? Keep the place looking like it is being used by competent, organized human beings who value spatial conservation! This isn't preschool! Also, slobs in general! Clean up after yourself! You're a grown adult! (people in your 20s...) You're okay living in an embarrassing mess, wearing sweatpants or yoga pants everywhere you go, looking like you always just rolled out of bed, putting your hair up in just a messy bun when you leave the house, or whatever... have some damn class! Be presentable!

PC culture - the "politically correct" terms people are using now as revisions to former "offensive" terms. "People of color" to describe "minority" races is the most awful one. It makes it sound like it's whites versus every other race. Every other race that is non-white is on the same team I guess. Whites have to be excluded because they are accused of their "white privilege" which should supposedly obligate them to owe something to the races who had suffered from a more difficult history. I won't go into race any further, perhaps that is dangerous territory. I don't want this thread to become a debate. Just say "non-white races". That sounds much more fair. Also, I don't see what's wrong with saying "mentally retarded" or other examples I can't think of at the moment... What's derogatory about that? Or "mulatto" to refer to a mixed white/black person? Now it's "bi-racial". Come on, mulatto sounds very flavorful, like something you'd order at Starbucks. A "venti iced mulatto with sweat cream". I'd love to be called a mulatto if I was one.

The term "EDM" to refer to all genres of electronic music, which I think should only specifically apply to the hipsterish-sounding electro-house, brostep, and whatever other bastardizations of real music genres started to become more apparent post-2007. I don't know which is worse, that or calling everything "techno" which is almost always incorrect. People will think anything that goes "NTZ NTZ NTZ" or features a synth element of any sort is techno music (a lot of times it's synthpop...). If you're not a fan, it's not like I'd expect you to look it up from a credible source to get your genre straight, and you're just going to go by word of mouth (dumb words...) so I can't really blame you. But it's really hard to hear people say this for me because I am a devout fan of specific genres of electronic music. "Rave music" could be a better umbrella term. That could be a discussion I guess.

Girls who don't wear underwear. It's mainly fat whales who do this, jeans with no underwear underneath. It's gross enough that you're fat, so don't go adding insult to injury. Also, don't wear a thong either. Thongs should only be worn by slender women, not fat asses. Fat asses need full coverage.

The TV Show "Modern Family". It's the most annoying show in the world.

Fireworks. Why does everyone like them so much? Because they're loud and "pretty"? What a bunch of morons staring up at the nightsky like kids who think they're seeing Santa Claus. Fireworks are not worth being the main event of any sort of night-outing occasion or celebration. Fireworks are only cool if stuff gets blown up.

The TV show Law & Order. I hate that show to fucking bits. Everyone is a fucking prick, a cunt, an asshole and a dickface in that show. So much fucking offensive sarcasm, big egos, and bad attitude. Especially from that fucking woman cunt on the team. She thinks she's some seriously tough shit, and so do all the other characters. They all think they're the shit. Fuck them. They're just a bunch of bullies.

Dogs, and dog people. These people don't understand non-dog people. It's like they think something's wrong with you if you're not a dog person.

Alright, that's enough for now. A few of these are from my old list from a couple years ago and I really try not to take these thoughts and opinions of mine seriously anymore. You can tell which ones are the more immature ones I'm sure. I'm sure plenty of these opinions, claims and judgments will just straight up annoy people, but I hope maybe some of it could just turn to good fun. Like, I don't really dislike dog people just because they like dogs. Some of these things are just irksome thoughts that really become amplified if I'm angry, usually about something else, something more important, and so it becomes this lashed-out misdirected anger and pointless criticism.
This doesn't have to just be a vent thread either, I was thinking, you could all list some of your pet peeves as well if you wanted. As long as this doesn't turn into a thing that upsets and offends everyone. I created this to vent because I thought maybe this was the safest place to express these judgments of mine which I'd like to expunge from my everyday thoughts. I don't want any of this stuff to matter to me. But I keep my opinions to myself partly because I'm afraid somebody will get mad at me if they disagree or will make a retort at me if they are offended which could cause me to become shook up and vulnerable.
Is there any value to this thread? What do you think? I'm not sure I know or care much. I guess I thought this would just be something to relieve boredom. Hopefully now it's all out there and done with. Do you relate to any of my pet peeves?
