Some people are just destined to be losers and failures no matter what. That's what I think.

Yes, in terms of- there's always the prospect of failure when we try something.

Still, you can still feel like you have failed your own potential if you don't even try. Say, you want to become a professional in whatever subject you're good at. You show potential and your teachers think you could go far. But, for whatever reason, you don't do it and end up working a wage slave job- just to get by. Then, there's that 'what if' thought- would I be happier if I had pursued what I was good at? (And possibly enjoyed more.) So- that leads to regretting not even trying sometimes. Depends who you are, what you care about, what quality of life you can lead without having to bother.

The better approach- in my view would be if we weren't so crushed by failure. Making mistakes is how we learn. It shouldn't actually be something we feel ashamed of.

If you try and fail, you end up in a worse position than the one you were in before trying. It's better to do nothing when there aren't many chances of success.

If we don't try anything we cannot fail but in the same time nothing is moving on, nothing is developing, we're not going anywhere. Failing is a natural process, without failing there is no development.

I blame the fucking autism for making me overthink things and making me so indecisive as to taking action. Fuck ASD. Superpower, my ass.

I support that sentiment. I hate people who insist that trying + failing is better than not trying. No. At best, they are equivalent. But at least if you don't try then you don't suffer from the pain of squandered effort. Whenever I try something and fail, I only become more demoralised, never more motivated.

that was pretty much my mentality throughout all of school. i never gave as much as i could, or as much as i shouldve. but its because of that i can tell myself i wouldve succeeded, if only i had put in more effort. it makes me feel a little less stupid.

It's wrong because I've failed at not trying to do stuff plenty of times. I didn't even want to have a crush on anybody at work when I started and I ended up failing at that without any bit of trying at all.
