Much has been accomplished, and the ground gained is undeniable. Yet, an old truth persists: there is no outrunning trauma, no final escape from the shadows of pain. "One step forward, a third of a step back," my psychologist says, as though to comfort. But is that incremental progress enough? Does it warrant the effort? No. Not for me. Seedlings bloom into flower only to be stepped on by a traveler.

I've purchased a firearm. I will turn it onto myself, soon enough.
