I take a different benzo , and it usually chills me out. Don't take anything else, though.

Xanax is awesome when used rarely. Almost instant anxiety or panic attack relief to me. However, I was always afraid to become dependent on xanax. Benzos have this feature so you should be careful.
Escitalopram was great when I only started taking it. It was pushing me high and I was capable of doing everything. It was making me feel very energetic. Time passed by and there were no more "highs" on Escitalopram. But it was an excellent thing to take first, maybe, two weeks.
Have never taken mirtazapine.

Xanax didn't do anything for me, clonazepam is what always helped with my anxiety.

Mirtazapine helps me to sleep. But it is a "dirty drug". I personally wouldn't touch it ever again!! The Side effects can go in every direction. Your body is after a short time as addicted like you can be from benzos.
I don't know your story, that's just my point of view. Sometimes a Benzo to calm down is useful. Take care!

I'm on escitalopram. I don't feel a huge difference, but I think it's either a case of too low a dose or just... I don't know. Maybe it's the wrong med for me. But I genuinely don't feel much of a difference at all. I've heard cases of people going off of it because of that and suffering bc they don't realize how it actually helped. So it could be that, too.

Mirtazapine makes you eat and sleep, but it gave me the worst nightmares and painful spasms in my legs. I think it made me more depressed, and really overweight which id never been before.

Xanax is good but so addictive be careful with it.

Escitalopram/lexapro was great the first time I had it. Next time around it made me so manic I lost my job

This is what I am on also. Been on the diazepam since sept last year so im shitting bricks about how I'm supposed to get off them. Without it my anxiety gets so high and I get so distressed from it I threw myself infront of a car on the motorway and spent 6 weeks in hospital with a broken pelvis, leg and wrist and a few small brain bleeds which have thankfulky only left me with a numb hand and one side of my face. Theres many a day I wish I wasn't one of the 5% that survive being hit by a vehicle at 100km/hr. On the downside when I'm not anxious (which isn't very often) I can't be arsed doing anything.

Mirtazapine doesn't really help me. I'm taking it now but it doesn't seem to be doing much.

I used to do ok on Lexapro but I think its effect wore off on me and my shrink gave me Cymbalta instead. Cymbalta used to work too but its effect is wearing off now.

Haven't tried Xanax before so I can't comment about that.

Mirtazapine for sleep. Go easy on the xanax, it is super addictive.

Mirtazapine did literally nothing for me except giving me false hope. Different for every person of course.

Have never taken mirtazapine.
Escitalopram had the same effect on me

I was on Lexapro two weeks ago and I got off of it quickly. It made me extremely manic, especially at night with racing thoughts, pacing and having conversations with myself etc.

Xanax I've been prescribed and barely helped due to the fact that I have social and generalized anxiety disorder . The effects last a short period of time and are mostly for panic attacks. On the other hand, I've been prescribed Klonopin (also benzo), but worked better because it's longer acting (last 8 hrs for me). But, I'd be careful with this one because like others have mentioned it's very addictive . I myself got addicted to them and the withdrawals are horrible.

I've tried quite a few and I've been on mirtazapine for just over a year. With smaller doses, it's very sedating. I'm not sure how much it was helpful and how much it was just making me tired. I don't really get the weight gain/hunger side effects anymore. When I moved up to 45mg, it started to help. I would get low periods but not as badly. It doesn't help me feeling suicide at all. In fact when I first started taking the higher dose it gave me the clear head I needed to start planning. I tried to wean off them a month ago (with approval from my psychiatrist) and the withdrawal was terrible. I didn't have energy, I didn't have an appetite, I couldn't sleep. I just felt miserable. I went back into my dose but other than stopping me going into withdrawal it just doesn't do anything for me anymore.

I've been on escitalopram for about 8 weeks now. Supposedly it should've started working after 4-6 weeks. It's doing nothing for me. I feel no difference, good or bad.
