I just called my solictor and they have no availability until the end of next month / early January so that's going to be hard I feel ready I want to die right now but I feel like it's the noble thing to do for my child. I feel it's important I leave a legacy to them. I've never done anything like this before or written a will I feel like this adds some more finality do my decision. Will you do the same?

I was mulling it over recently, but as I will have quite a simple estate was looking at doing one of the DIY pack ones. The only turn-off is needing two witnesses. I don't want my family to know and I'm paranoid that if I ask anyone at work they might see it as a red flag as they know I have a mental health history. So in the end I probably won't and my family can argue over what I leave.

Wait you need two witnesses I didn't know that can't it simply be like a paralegal and a solictor who both work at the law firm or does it have to be a relative? Maybe I could ask a distant friend?

If you do it with a solicitor then yeah they will be the witnesses. It's just if you do your own and send it off then you need to find your own witnesses. They can be anyone that's not a beneficiary of the will.

Oh I see yeah that makes more sense. I'm fortunate I can afford a Solictor right now but if you can't I can understand why it would be more difficult

I did a trust but also needed two witnesses. I asked coworkers. Who certainly know I'm depressed. I was barely holding it together standing there. Then they started talking about all these retirement things I didn't know and I just got more depressed

So update they have space early December (their system was down lol prob cloudflare) any advice? I don't want them to realise why I'm choosing to do this. I don't think it's common for people in their early 20s to write will's? I think I'm going to say that I'll update it periodically so every 5-10 years or something..

That sounds rough to feel dismissed like that. On the plus side it's encouraging to know it didn't raise suspicion, as I guess people are too wrapped up in themselves to think that much about it.

I think it's relatively common for people with children to do wills. So I'd just use that angle. Hope it's not too much of a stress for you, from your other posts recently it sounds like you have enough to worry about as it is.

I've just written my will - it's being sent off for print. The witness will be colleague's at the firm. They might ask why you want to write a will (mine did) but really it's not any of their business. I said because my health is poor and wished to write a will. I'm 40 so older than but still young in terms of dying. It was quick to draw up but I don't know where you live in country but here lots of wills seem to be sent externally to print etc so will delay things. I'm waiting on mine to come back and I can sign in. Good luck!

i've thought about it?? but probably not-- i think the law in my country is that my parents will get everything, since i dont have a spouse/children. i was just going to ask them to distribute it how id like in my note to them, since i know theyd listen. but now i wonder if thats kinda cruel,,

I got my will and ither affairs set up a while back when i was diagnosed .. i know the time will come but when or how is both in and out of my hands .. as you have to be of sound mind..
So maybe after an attempt and then you write a will it would be pretty much null and void...
