"Flight, fight, freeze": Would you, or would you have, CTB at the onset of a major world war, if it was inevitable?
Here I am, sitting here, fretting about the option of this job interview vs. CTB instead...meanwhile, it looks as if WW3 is a very real possibility, at the moment.
Kinda puts my problems into perspective, in the larger scheme of things. Not that they don't matter (and I always resented that idea of "I was sad because I had no shoes, but then I met someone who had no legs"); quite the opposite, they are intertwined, not just for me, but for most of us, as this will have an effect both now and for years to come.
It got me thinking about the question in the poll. Without getting into choosing sides in this, or attacking others over specific beliefs and political views, I'd rather keep the poll more abstract, to cover whatever side one falls on (since, here, if we're about to CTB, it's moot, in the end, there's ultimately only "the other side", whatever that may be...)
So, if you were on the brink of a world war, would you CTB? Would you fight for "your side" (regardless of what side it is), would it give you something to fight for, and possibly kill/die for, would you live to protect others? Or would you CTB before the SHTF? Would you have no one to fight for? Would you be unable to choose a side? Would you refuse to fight on religious/ideological grounds?
All questions one would have to ask themselves, and many here would probably have different reasons and views. But instead of fighting about them here, I'd just rather focus on the one theme that "unites" us here: that we're all mostly on the bring of CTB, anyway, and have considered that option beforehand. Would this be enough of a catalyst to settle any doubts and fears and overcome SI?
