  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I have asked myself this question recently. I would probably do it. But I would probably shake. I am very obsessed by what other people think of me. Though I am a very convinced believer in liberal assisted suicide laws. I think showing my support would be the only morally rightful decision in this case. I am just too principled for that. I am often a quite principled person and can be opinionated.

I would have a guilty conscience if I kept quiet. However maybe I would be too scared but I would really try to raise my hand.

Edit: I remember I also did it in school and I am proud of that.

Absolutely, because it falls in line with all the other things people have a problem with.

If people want to do drugs, they will. If people want to have an abortion, they will. If someone needs to kill themselves, they will.

Its already been proven that making things illegal or harder to access doesn't stop them from being done. The actual dichotomy is whether you want to respect people's wishes and choices and make them safer, or ignore them and allow desperation to continue running rampant.

Oh yes. I wrote countless essays about the right to die in high school and am open about my opinion anytime it enters the conversation.

That would raise too many eyebrows, not that I'm socially involved with others regardless. I will likely leave with no note and others will project their beliefs they want onto my choice. I have stated to my mother I believe what I do with my own body is my choice, but that's as far as I have gone.

I would always support it as I see the right to die as being very important, it is my belief that we all deserve the option of a peaceful exit at a time of our own choosing. No one should have to resort to risky methods to end their pain, but I am the type of person who always keeps quiet, I hate talking and I would rather just keep my thoughts to myself.

Absolutely. You wouldn't let an animal live in misery, so why should humans?

I definitely would. I am extremely passionate about it. I've spoken to a few people about it already. There was a talk held about the right to die at my uni back before I found this site or even knew about the right to die, I wish I had attended.

I would, however I would try and make sure people didn't suspect I was suicidal when I said it.

Yes, it's called advocacy.

Being a supporter of right to die/dying with dignity laws means to take a stand for an inherently held value that is important to you.

I consciously follow and endorce social media accounts of RTD/DWD accounts, peer support groups etc.

I am also considering changing the beneficiary of my life insurance to a local charity supporting medical assistance in dying.

I have before so yes. I don't really care how people feel about me, as I believe we should all be able to state our views and opinions freely, even ones I disagree with. I am pretty open about these things, and feel this is a topic that shouldn't be so stigmatized from the perspective of mental illness. I feel mentally ill people (depending on their illness and life circumstances) should have access to assisted suicide instead of having to resort to painful methods or methods that they can afford as cost plays a role in the type of suicide you can have too. Assisted suicide for people who are sick mentally and have zero chance of life improvement should be available to us. There is this notion that things always "get better" but some of us had it get better only to lose it and never see better again. Mental suffering is real and can be chronic, so we should have access to assisted suicide too.
