If I hadn't been gifted guns, I probably wouldn't own one. Because I knew if I had one I'd more than likely kill myself.
Now I have guns. I can exit stage left whenever I want to. It's a comfort, to some extent. Knowing I can go whenever i want to. But it also makes it very real. I can end my life in an instant, if I want. I can hold the instrument of my death in my hands, work it's action, oil it's parts, polish it's metal. And I do.
They're all high power rifles. There's no clean exit. My skull will explode from the pressure of the kinetic energy. There will be nothing of my face identifiable. My mom, who brews me sweet tea and bakes me cookies, who says "but I love you" when I say nobody loves me, will have to identify my body by some means other than my smile, my eyes, my ears. She'll have to examine my corpse and say "that scar on his buttocks, I was there that day. That's him."

Sorry, I forgot where I was going with that. I'm a bit drunk tonight.

This is why I don't like to ctb using guns. It's seriously so messy. Effective, but messy. Don't want my family to go through seeing a mangled corpse that can only be seen in horror movies this day and age.

I do have a gun. In fact, I have several! None that are ideal for CTB or I would want to use on myself but I can rely on in an absolute emergency. I'd much rather use a cleaner method and so I have chosen SN.

Majority of easy gun options are used to kill animals and others. Not a personal choice of exit. Easy to get, yes. I have no gun license yet, was gifted 1 shotgun, 3 pistols, 1 airgun & a crazy bow shooting thing.
I was being harassed at the time and the firearms flowed.

That would be 4,2%.

The US economy is almost a quarter (23,6%) of the global economy.
I understand that a significant part of the American economy and capital are in hands of a few families, but still the standard of living for an average Joe in the US is light-years ahead of the billions living in India or China (or any country other than in Europe and Australia).

But my point was not "envying" you for your standard/quality of living (although it's a huge factor in deciding whether to live or die), but rather the availability of firearms.

No. I have lots (and I mean really a lot) of SN, meto and Xanax and can CTB any day I wish. I just still have some stuff to do and waiting fir the right day. The gun wouldn't change anything at all. And for the ones saying that SN is less reliable than guns - you can mess up suicide by gun too and you'll surely end up worse than after failing with SN. There are also speeding bullets called trains, freely available and effective, if someone is desperate. Guns are so overrated.

100% yes but I live in the uk so that's definitely impossible for me. I would like to die peacefully in my in my sleep via overdose but I'm struggling to find something to overdose on. I feel currently my only option are ether death by hanging or jumping off a bridge

Unless I have been severely miscotted I do believe the United States is at 2.4 or 2.3 possibly even 2.2 but that was always my understanding am I incorrect?
