There are so many people here that feel alone and want to be around others that understand them. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a place we could all go to be together. I wish I owned a big farm or ranch or something the ironic thing is it might help some of us want to go on....Oh well, another a dream that won't come true. but if there is anyone in the PA/NJ/NY area that needs a friend get in touch.

Sounds good in theory, but the people on this forum are still humans that disappoint. For example, yesterday I got on this forum, and replied to the OP in an attempt to comfort them and ask them for more details, so that I could comfort them some more, and they had the audacity to give me a rude response, does that make sense to you? I wanted to respond back to them letting them know how rude they were and how they made no sense, but I decided not to, because I knew they were suffering, and I didn't want to make things worse for them, because obviously they are unreasonable.

However, it really screwed up my whole day. It was bad enough that I was spending the holidays in bed depressed, the last thing I needed was someone to be rude to me, because I actually took the time out to try to comfort them. I even got 2 likes on my comment from other people, I know I didn't say anything rude, the person is weird. I'm just saying, be careful with people on this forum, even though you may feel sorry for them, you don't know their character.

You cannot trust people and in general humans are responsible for so much of the suffering and cruelty that exists in this world, at least to me it's better to be alone. Wherever there are humans there is the potential for so much harm to be inflicted onto others and it's simply just the way that things are. Other people can very easily just make things worse in a world where enough torment already exists.

You are right, just seems like a common theme that people feel alone. I guess if it was only the "Good" people it would be different.

I see both sides of the argument.

It's obvious sometimes that some people here could be very compatible and would form beautiful friendships or even relationships if they had a means of bonding over time, combined with a tad of guidance and support. It does seem tragic that so many will die of loneliness even though what they yearn for is right here.

In practice, however, human group dynamics are prone towards dangerous tendencies. People with Dark Triad tendencies often charm and/or fight their way to leadership positions and that is when the group jumps out of the frying pan (normal society) and into the fire (a cultic environment). As Jim Jones proved, feeling disenfranchised by society opens people up to the romantic ideal of a like-minded commune, but our fatal flaw is always our propensity to have our emotions hijacked by empathy-deprived characters.

While I'd like to think that many of us could form decent friendships and that maybe that could help us move towards a slightly better place, I also know depression is a hell of a thing and misery sure loves company. So I worry that it wouldn't be long before someone broke out the kool aid.

Also, much as I love this place, and it's been a great comfort to me through dark times, this is still the Internet. Not everybody on here is really going to be who they claim they are. I daresay there's probably been a few predators on here with their own fucked up agendas, being that this place is naturally going to attract vulnerable people.

Fuck I wish I didn't live in a world that's made me so cynical.
