This is not as crazy an idea as you might think. There are a number of ways to leave the body (including permanently) without dying a normal physical death. Most modern western people just tend to not know about or believe in any of it.

I thought about researching this and writing a nice post about it sometime but I wasn't sure how it'd be received.

I am willing to give it a go if you have any suggestions! I've had lucid dreams a lot as a kid and I also accidentally had obes while asleep.

I wasn't sure what you meant in the OP by "projecting death onto yourself". Is this an idea you came up with on your own or did you hear about it somewhere? If it's an actual technique then you'll have to let me know for my curiosity's sake and (potentially) a future thread's sake.

I'll DM you about the couple of techniques/practices I know of. I feel hesitant to talk about them publicly until I've thought about and asked around a bit more about how people feel. I know a lot of people on SaSu don't believe in souls and so I'm not sure what the reaction would be, or how people would try to use it, or if it's a bad idea for me to talk about it for some reason I haven't considered yet.

I came up with the idea. The concept is somehow to wish hard enough for death that I die. Without having to commit the act. If souls are real than this could be from permanently leaving or some other method.

Yep, but that's temporary. Apparently while you are projecting there is a cord that connects you to your body. There are ways of permanently leaving your body though.

No harm in trying everything, so I'm going to give alternative methods ago. :) I've witnessed things that seem supernatural before and as a kid I always believed it was weird that we randomly came into being and I used to fantasize about what happens after death.

I would love to astral project, travel the realms, find a peaceful sanctuary surrounded by my astral friends, look back at the cord stretching long, off the side of the cloud downwards, lend the scissor to one of my friends and in the count of three we severe my astral cord

I for one would love to see a post about it when and if you decide to share it, I'm certain others would too. Despite being skeptical, I love engaging with unfamiliar foreign concepts.

K-Hole on Ketamine or try Lucid Dreaming. I'm personally planning to do something like that before considering suicide.

I do wish that I could simply die from some sort of unknown medical condition or in a freak accident in which it was just me and no one else was hurt. I think it would be easier for people to cope with. Even if it was a really nasty, painful death… I'd still prefer that over having others experience my suicide.

Whichever way you look at it, it's still suicide. Maybe a lazy suicide, but still ending your own life voluntarily/purposefully.

Good to know.

One of my worries with this is I don't want people who are CTB'ing normally to feel like they're doing it wrong. I'm 100% pro choice. We do what we have to do. I hope people wouldn't feel "less than" for not taking a way out that's more graceful and doesn't involve the violence/harm we typically associate with suicide.

For metaphysical reasons, it'll also probably only work if you only believe in such things. That's how everything spiritual/metaphysical tends to go. That means a certain percentage of the userbase won't be able to use it.

Also, in some schools of thought, talking about such things in an open, direct way around people who don't believe in them actually makes them less likely to work. That's an icky problem and something I've seen true with spiritual/metaphysical things in my own life. If that's the case it'd be better to find a different place to talk about these things. It's a little weird and disorienting to think about.

Everytime I did ketamine I thought I was dead in another realm . It wasnt scary or beautiful it was just like ok Im dead and in some other dimension

There are people who claim to be able to astral project. I'm jealous

For some reason there is an unused portion of our brain set up to perceive the world as if we were looking at the room from above our bodies or something

I used to hope, if I cried deeply enough that I'd die of a broken heart. I feel sure intense grief puts strain on the heart. You can feel it but obviously, it didn't work.

The power of the mind is pretty incredible though. I know I don't have the discipline for it. I'm not sure simply wishing for death would be enough though. I imagine a huge amount of people very intensely wish for death. I would have thought actually focusing on a biological process linked to life- breathing, heart beat would be necessary. Although, I'm not convinced you can actually bypass SI and the parts of the brain that automatically regulate all that.

I always make a mantra or wish type thing when I go to bed. Like "Dear God please can I die in my sleep amen" over an over again. I'm not religious so I know it won't work but a part of me wants it to work. I feel disappointed when I wake up in the morning and I'm not dead lol

I do believe in that we leave a bit of our redisual energy/spirit when we die. So believing in a soul and astral projecting doesn't seem too far, might look into this. It'll be fun lol I imagine it would be like lucid dreaming (I've had that many times as a child)
