  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Will it hurt when jumping from the 19th floor? I didn't decide yesterday. I am told that at best the pain will be for a few seconds or minutes, and at worst for several hours. It's terrible, the person who said it said he saw it, didn't specify yet. Do I really have to suffer? Even a few minutes is a lot, but there is a risk of several hours. Is there any research. I think maybe I should drink something else, or come in a sleepy state? Sleeping pills

I think a big factor would be how one lands. There could be a lot of agony and survival if one lands on feet, but less so if on the head.

Honestly it's so hard to tell, I think most fatalities from falls occur by damage to the brain upon impact.
I hope you know the risks involved, including paralysis which is probably the worst case scenario.

I've seen some fucked up videos of people jumping, some died almost instantaneously whereas others didn't. If you failed, and landed with open fractures, there's nobody around, who's going to help you?

I'm glad to see you're still researching it, I'm not trying to put you off or encourage you. But I want what's best for your OP.

Are the cases of landing and agony you're talking about landing on something or concrete? The GPT chat says that the pain from blood loss will not be felt after 20 seconds. In one study that he cited, there are 300 cases, all fatal except 2, and there are landings on building structures. What you are talking about may be very rare cases, although you did not talk about survival.

If it all goes smoothly, you don't hit things on the way down, you don't get blown into trees or bushes, you land on concrete, etc., it is highly likely you'll die almost instantly. But if anything does go wrong, it's almost guaranteed to be unimaginably bad. That's your trade off.

Position matters a lot if your goal is immediacy and to avoid survival. The most lethal impact from high falls is usually head first, with the body fully extended and aligned vertically. That kind of fall maximizes velocity and focuses the force of impact on the skull and spine. Done correctly, it can cause instant or near instant death due to massive brain trauma, spine fracture, and destruction of the brainstem. Consciousness would likely be lost before pain even registers.

Feet first, on the other hand, is survivable.....barely, and horrifyingly. It tends to result in shattered legs, pelvis, and spine, but leaves you conscious long enough to suffer internal bleeding, nerve pain, or worse. That's how some people end up alive.

Face forward horizontal falls (belly flops) can be unpredictable.

Surface also matters. Pavement or concrete increases the chance of fatal trauma. Water, roofs, awnings, trees? They reduce lethality and often slow you down. That's why many survival cases happen near bridges, rivers, or buildings with architectural "cushions."

If one has the balls to jump I would just use a gun...

I am researching carbon monoxide grill and bathroom option. I am scared of heights.

I'm basing it off landing on a concrete sidewalk, you will most likely die. I just wanted to share the risks and remind you that while you may die, there's a chance that a fatality could last hours.

But I'm no doctor, paramedic or expert. My exit method is via blood loss.

I wish you luck with whatever decision you make OP <3

19 floors is a very high altitude. You will most likely die instantly. Even those who do not die immediately lose consciousness after hitting the ground, and death occurs a little later

I doubt it.
You will have about 3 1/2 seconds to admire the view.
I do not find that comfortable.
