as for shooting, i could imagine it's due to the fact that guns are anything but readily available in most developed countries - way easier to get your hands on sth like sn, or even pb than going through months or waiting and trainings and buying thousands of euros worth of specialised lockers and licences and all that stuff

I assume it is mostly because it is the "Peaceful Pill" and not the "Peaceful Suicide" Handbook. It simply focus on using toxic substances to poison yourself (in a similar way to "official" euthanasia) instead of talking about any other ways to CTB, since there are a lot and they are probably harder to compare. Not sure if they have other reasons.

I wouldn't think too much about it, you can research about guns and hanging in other places.

Perhaps because of the impact of finding such corpses. A head blown to pieces by a firearm/gun, blood splattered everywhere, a whole body hanging from somewhere. They are fast but they don't look "nice".

In the one of the introductory sections, the author talks about shootings and hangings as not being peaceful or dignified.

The PPH is meant as a list of more dignified alternatives to firearms and hangings, which still make up the bulk of suicides.

I've been slowly reading the book every now and then.

It does only mention ways that remove oxygen in one way or another. They also mention that certain lack of oxygen is happy, peaceful, and others are not. Hanging causes a terrifying feeling (they mention something like this).
