If I weight more than 180lbs and have a Spot high enough and with a metal railing what speaks against Drop Hanging?

"This is purported (see Stone1 and Clark2) to cause very quick, and almost painless (possibly for a millisecond) death by way of fracture-dislocation of the upper neck vertebrae, which crushes or severs the spinal cord leading to immediate unconsciousness (in a matter of milliseconds)..."
http://lostallhope.com/suicide-methods/hanging/drop-hanging

"which is also frequently used in executions,..."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_by_hanging

"When it comes to judicial hanging, the long drop is the most humane way to go..."
https://health.howstuffworks.com/diseases-conditions/death-dying/death-by-hanging1.htm

The only 2 problems I can see:
Possible Decapitation if the drop is too long...
Strangulation instead of neck break if the drop is too short or the noose knot is at the wrong position...
https://health.howstuffworks.com/diseases-conditions/death-dying/death-by-hanging1.htm

So what else speaks against it?

"DO NOT EVEN THINK OF A DROP"
https://archive.is/9rZtH

still translating this article into my language... but I think this warning is the same regardless of the method:
Don´t do it, because you could fail... and as a result: brain damage... :ohhhh:....like always :meh:

I mean yea it's one of the more effective ways of hanging, but there's just a lot more to consider.

It's not so easy to snap the neck at the right place to cause immediate unconsciousness. Hangmen were practiced in judging the correct amount of drop, and how/where to tie the rope. Drop hanging is like the jumping menthod, in the sense you have to commit with no way of turning back.

If you fail you snap your neck correctly, you'll be left in pain from the drop, while strangling to death.

There are other methods of hanging that would be likely to leave you in less agony after fully committing to the act. Plus, you can practice through trial and errror, where you only get one shot at a drop hanging.

u can just calculate it... no need to judge???

Drop hanging is like the jumping method, in the sense you have to commit with no way of turning back.

If I try to commit suicide again, I really don´t want to turn back again.

Drop hanging just seems scarier

Only if my head slips out of the noose I would survive and break my legs LOL... but if I do it I would combine it with deadly chemicals so I would die 100% sooner or later

If I try to commit suicide again, I really don´t want to turn back again.

I'm not saying it wouldn't work, I'm just saying there are reasons for it not being everyone's preferred method

Ok. I understand that. But for me, it´s just important what speaks against this method in my particular case.

Body-Weight: High
Mobility: High
Fear of jumping: relative low

I think you have to have the right drop height. To little of a drop and you will hang in pain until you pass out and to much of a drop can remove your head.

I think I will add a bit to the drop height so my head will fly through the air... seems better to me than suffocation

Full suspension hanging is a very pleasant way to go.. I didn't feel much pain, only mistake, was I was dragging myself up in the air, instead of tying my rope to something solid... I'm choosing full suspension again in a heartbeat.. And the noose will never slip off, being tight in the back of the neck..

And the noose will never slip off,

I think it´s just an unjustified fear I have. Pure Imagination. I don´t know if there were any cases in history where this happened.

I think it´s more common that the rope breaks... but here too: just calculate the right diameter for the rope

I'm scared of drop hanging, mostly that the rope will break, or I'll slip out of the rope, but it's really the only option I have at the moment that doesn't cost much money.
