Nothing can compares to N. Probably the second method of choosing is SN. I always thought that the reason to people not to choose CO was unrealibility. But I was told that it was a very popular method in Asia, I don't know. That made me think again. Is it so difficult to prepare the set for CO method? I don't think so: charcoal, a chimney starter, a steel bucket, a pan, some water and a small closed environment. Why doesn't more people go with this method? Is there any guide? Indeed there is a megathread, but more than forty pages is too much.

You're thinking of CO.

CO2 buildup causes panic and suffocation

There is no guide for CO... pretty much on your own. Seems like lots of people try and fail.

There is a CO mega thread on here, if you use the search tool you'll be able to find it. Its my preferred method and something I'm planning on going through with soon. I have two disposable bbqs instead though. I'm planning on lighting those, waiting for it to go ashy, putting them in an enclosed space, either my car or a small bathroom and then just waiting for it to end. The only thing that puts me off is seeing that people have done similar things and failed but there are also many successes. But at the end of the day whatever method you choose its up to you to do the research and make up your mind.

There have been lots of threads on CO and "the charcoal method". Some of the discussions have been very interesting.

If the mega-thread is too long for you, maybe you're a good candidate to create a condensed version? You'll learn a lot, for sure.

It's ironic that outside of Asia, the "most successful exits" are entirely accidental. No planning,over-thinking,just goodnight Vienna.
I was considering attempting this again. I tried 3 times a couple of years back, without success.
I feel for you,mate.
It does seem like the only viable option for some of us.

Can you please explain how you think failed? I'm wanting to attempt with this method, later today so any help would be great x

It would be important to know the causes of failure. I wil begint to read the Megathread, but it's too much.

Maybe because I didn't get the embers to the exact point necessary. First attempt was epic fail. Room filled with masses of smoke. Got in regardless.
Perhaps the CO concentration wasn't high enough.
I don't have a tester and was relying on timings only (as in,how long the bbq should be in the room before you get in)
I've heard it said, that if you don't pass out in 10 minutes, the level is not high enough.

It's true, there isn't much to it. But you need to educate yourself on it, a few supplies, a safe environment, at some point you're dealing with fire and you might have to sit around, suppressing your SI, as you start to feel yourself getting sick. Once you learn about everything on this method, CO now starts to feel like a complicated option. lol

If anyone chooses this method, it's very important to pick a spot where the gas will not reach anyone else under any circumstances. Leave a noticeable note at the door. If the CO gets too concentrated, when a person walks in, they can pass out in seconds.

I still feel like its one of the less complicated methods. My plan is to light the bbqs outside and wait til the smoke goes out, then bring them in to the bathroom and just wait, i will have a timed message set up to send to my partner so that when he finishes work he'll get a text saying I've attempted and to call the police to the house so he doesnt have to find me himself. Seems straight forward enough..
The only thing im worried about is it potentially leaking through to my neighbours house.. but it shouldnt be an issue.

You know,I'm stating the screamingly obvious here, but the only way those accidental deaths make sense is if the bbq is no longer emitting any smoke wharsoever. I meansometimes they look as if they aren't,but bring 'em inside and they sure are. That said,a mother actually lit a bbq in her son's,killing both herself and him. Of course, this may just be the reporter's interpretation of what happened. The smoke would have been unbearable.
Iirc,an Adian girl (?) Livestreamed her suicide, and literally lit the briquettes in the room.

I've attempted it once (half ass attempt) following my big suicide attempt. With a pipe going from the car exhaust pipe to a cracked window, but was found. It's probably peaceful if done right and you just drift into unconsciousness and pass away. However there's the possibility of failing and suffering brain damage.

CO was originally my method I intended to use, but the risk of brain damage if I fail as well as the potential of accidentally killing other unsuspecting people turned me off of it. I purchased some SN instead.

@Notabadguy, you mentioned in the OP how the CO method is popular in Asia. I know you have issues with reading the CO megathread, I've commented there myself that it's a shitshow, but it has been commented there multiple times that the charcoal in Asia is different than what's sold in other countries.

I don't know if this helps, but when I was researching the method, I had to take the CO megathread slowly, and also use the site search for charcoal attempts. I was able to piece together the method and make a plan for myself (I would not recommend it to others, it fits my situation, please don't rely on me, do your own research and make your own decisions). But that doesn't mean I'm confident in the method or my plan. I want the peace of a CO ctb done right, but it's not guaranteed for every attempt.

Imo, SN is far more likely to succeed, but not peaceful enough for me, so I would have to make a judgment call -- personally, I'd probably try CO and have SN ready as a backup.

GoodPersonEffed, thanks, what you say is valuable information. If the product available in Asia is better for CTB, that's a horse of a different colour. I also think that SN is more foolproof.

I'm under the impression that CO, for some reason, has a considerable range of failure. But the fact that it's a peaceful death makes it worth looking into it. I suppose that if you do it right there is not problem, but somehow something can go wrong and you can end up in worse shape. My method will be the Debreather, if it works at all (I think it will do), and SN as a backup. But it's worth looking into other methods, just in case.

One peer-reviewed article I read stated that a leaf blower is the best for getting the CO level in the room up around 10,000. That's not a quiet item, but maybe once it's been on the requisite amount of time I could take my no-longer-smoking coals in and turn the leaf blower off to enjoy the quiet.

I've been reading different people's threads about their attempts and I made a plan based on all of their recommendations. I tried using the CO megathread but it was a bit all over the place. I'm still going to do a lot more research before I actually buy everything I need and attempt it
