• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

It's been decriminalized in most western countries. Historically illegal to attempt but not as universal now. At least that's what I'm seeing online because it is sort of curious. Apparently originally considered morally wrong as to why criminal.

Only backward countries criminalize suicide. In the U.S it's neither legal or illegal. If you attempt to do it and you're caught by the cops then you would be sent to a psych ward for a week or two then put into therapy/programs. In my state a doctor can forcibly put you in a psych ward but in some other states it depends.

In some jurisdictions, it is still technically a crime (although it has no punishment) in order to allow the Police to force entry into your property to "save" you. Most police forces around the world don't need a warrant if they have good reason to believe that a crime (in this case, a suicide) is actively being committed on the property.

Some jurisdictions are, however, just regressive shitholes that still actually criminalise suicide (with jail time) because it's a "sin" or whatever. Hence why they're considered shitholes.

Of course, most countries just decriminalise suicide and give the Police special powers to force entry without a warrant during mental health cases. I've had the Police here in the UK do it to me many times - no warrant needed and suicide isn't illegal here.

Kind Regards,
CumbriaCTB

Depends where you live. It's technically been legal in the UK since 1961 although- if given the awareness and the chance, authorities will still try to prevent it.

I assume their reasoning is that some people presumably do still commit during a psychotic episode/ under the influence of a substance/ when they aren't in their right mind. I suspect their reasoning is that they neither can nor are qualified to assess a person's mental capacity on the spot. So, they take them off to a facility that (supppsedly) can.

The bigger problem I have is the equation of suicidal with mentally ill and the equation of that with mentally incompetent.

Because the human species is such a terrible species with so many of them doing all they can to make it so others suffer for as long as possible. I see so much cruelty in how they impose this existence onto others even know there are no disadvantages to never suffering at all and make suicide into a crime with the suffering and torture of existing seen as to force and prolong no matter what.

It's just all so cruel and dreadful and I always suffer so much with being forced to exist in this horrific anti-suicide world where I'm so cruelly denied the option to cease existing painlessly even know existence to me really is the most terrible tragic mistake that just causes suffering and harm with no limit as to how much one can be tortured and I find it so deeply undesirable to exist in every way.

Governments around the world dont want you to kill yourself, they want you to make money for their economy for as long as its possible, once you are in retirement age, then you can finally kill yourself in some countries
