I just received sn weeks ago and I was wondering why the texture is very hard like a rock ? How am i supposed to ingest that in the water i don't understand.

Is someone has an explication ?

Because it's a mineral. It usually comes granulated, however, same as kitchen salt and it's supposed to be ingested by diluting it in water.

texture change if I put it in water
yes that causes ion-dipole interactions. those break the crystal lattice strucutre of the solid and turn it into a state of aqueous ions surrounded by water molecules: NaNO3(solid state) + H2O(liquid state) → Na+(positive ion) + NO3-(negative ion).

Edit: Na+ NO3- is nuetral

Edit 2: That means the texture changes but you still have sodium nitrate. its just aqueous now.

but I have NaNO2 not NaNO3 ?
sodium nitrite I have

oh okay then you will have less of it after you dissolve it. There will be a lot of byproduct nitrous acid.

its the same equation except the NO3- is an NO2- and now it will react with the H2O again because NO2- takes the H+ positive ion from the H2O. So you have nitrous acid which is worthless.

I don't know if S(N) stands for (n)itrate or (n)itrite or which one people use to kill themselves. Sorry.
I have to Google this one actually. Here we have this:

NaNO2(s) + H2O(l) ⇌ HNO2(aq) + NaOH(aq)

Yeah so you have nitrous acid (HNO2) but the reaction has the ⇌ symbol which means it doesn't finish. There is still thermodynamic reversibility to get your sodium nitrite back.

It's because SN is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture in air). That's why it clumps easily. I broke mine up with a knife and then shook the container and it turned back into a powder then I transferred it to a well sealed glass jar.

i don't understand anything bro wtf
sodium nitrite + water = aqueous sodium nitrite = negative ion bonds with H+ in aqueous solution = becomes = nitrous acid + sodium hydroxide

but it is thermodynamically reversible meaning you can get the sodium nitrite back in crystal form.

sodium nitrate is different. it is neutral and pure in aqueous form but your sodium nitrite will dissolve into nitrous acid because NO2- PLUS H+ EQUALS NITROUS ACID.

But that process is reversible but you have to TAKE OUT THE WATER.

IDK man im just saying its not pure. i thought you had nitrate at first thats why i said that other stuff.
