Had a dream last night someone was trying to shoot me. Someone shot him in the head and saved my life, but they shot him over and over and he just twitched on the ground and never died. I woke up.

Still, if I had at least a .357 in here it would be tough to keep it out of my mouth.

I had access to a gun at one point. It was impossible to pull the trigger. Survival instinct is very strong, and the consequences of failing are too much to bear.

1) I already have the materials for my suicide and have figured out a way to make sure I'll succeed no matter what. I'm combining two non-violent methods in a hotel and am doing it in such a way that I will succeed when I try.

2) The gun method is very violent. I don't think it's fair to the person left behind if they have to see my brain matter all over the place. I also think it's one of those methods where you have to do on impulse.

3) Although I have a general idea of where to shot, I'm worried I would some how mess it up and survive, but end up worse off.

4) I can't legally get one. I can't even get it via a private sales like armlist, because in my state, private sales require background checks as well. I could try to find a way to get it illegally, but it's important to me that all the materials for my method were obtained legally.

I am one of the people who will use a gun (preferably) to ctb. However, I'll play devil's advocate and give a counter answer just to throw another another perspective in. There are people who don't want to use the gun, similar to what @Trulysorry said is that there is a chance of failure and irreversible damage and @Sixfeetunder did not want to traumatize others.

Also, keep in mind when aiming from the mouth, aim upwards and back at an angle (as close as possible to hit the brainstem). People who do fail often use too weak of a caliber, shoot themselves incorrectly at the bad place/bad angle (never shoot from under the chin! It's a Hollywood myth and that is where most of the failed firearm suicides come from.). If aiming from the head, aim behind the ear because that is where the brainstem is at.

Now those things don't really deter me, because all I care about at that point is just to successfully ctb, and pretty much fuck just about everything else.

My ideal method is by gun and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be here now if I had a gun. However I live in England and the chances of getting a gun are near impossible legally or not.

I don't have access to one besides maybe my grandfathers shotgun but it's just that I want that to be my desperate option if I can't succeed with hanging. I also want to be considerate for the people who find my body and clean up the mess, especially my mother. Something about seeing lots of blood sprayed across the room scented with lead, iron and splattered brains makes me feel guilty for even thinking like that and it sure would leave a lasting imprint stained into memory for my family which I don't want. There are are no take backs once you pull that trigger and the repercussions if any sure will make you regret it if you live. Only time will tell how desperate I'll get, so maybe.

This was my original plan, when i was 22 or 23 i bought a 12 gauge maverick with 3 inch slugs designed to kill grizzly bears, i lived in az at the time so getting a gun was pretty effortless. Unfortunately i was stupid and waited a month or so too long and it was found and i was sectioned and things just spiralled from there. Having that gun was definitely the most peaceful i had felt in years.

In the mouth since I have a shotgun (long gun) and it's far easier to do that than the head. Also, when aiming upwards and back, I would be leaning forward as well as having the stock of the weapon at the base of the floor (not absolutely important but helps). It's likely one will be dead well before being able to feel any recoil.

@siray The first one, but the muzzle would be behind your ear. This is what you do when you have a side arm, pistol/revolver.

can i know them?

SN and exit bag. I'm using the DMSO method as well so I can absorb more of the SN and won't throw up (have a weak stomach). Plan is to take some of my prescription sleeping pills. Once I start to feel sleepy, I'll combine 20g of SN with 100ml of DMSO and rub it around my carotid and brachial arteries. Then I'll use the exit bag. The exit bag should work, but if it doesn't for whatever reason (such as a gas leakage or if somehow 37 minutes isn't enough to kill me), then the SN should work.

All that SN should also render me unconscious long before the exit bag runs out of gas, so if it doesn't work, and I'm not dead yet from one of them, I probably won't wake up do the SN. The sleeping pills is also so that if I can't overcome the SI with the exit bag, I'll fall asleep with the SN. The SN might not be completely peaceful, but I'm willing to suffer a little bit. I also imagine 20g will cause me to lose consciousness sooner rather than later. Although I'm not sure if rubbing it on will be slow, maybe just to speed things up I could still take antiemetics, an antacid, fast for 8 hours, and then drink 5g in combination of absorbing 20g. It might seem like overkill, but I think overkill when it comes to being successful is better than under-doing it.
