I think many here in this forum feel lonely. Many wish to have a partner also in order to experience intimacy. But it is kind of ironic isn't it? The people who could easily have sexual intercourse are less interested it. I mean people who are in a relationship. But also young people in search for things like ONS or friends with benefits.
One probably has to differentiate between intimacy and sexuals intercouse. Not sure if all intimacies decrease but I could imagine it.

I have the personal feeling (before I read the article). The God fucking entertainment got very very good. (maybe too good). People flee from the real world in online worlds. Social media is very important for my generation. It is more important to portray yourself in a certain way than to really have this intersting life. People on social media pretend to have a perfect life while innerly feeling isolated and alienated. Trying to leave a certain impression in other people costs a lot of energy. Going to the gym weekly in order to look well at your instagram selfies etc. Many people might come the conclusion watching Netlfix might be more exciting than Netflix & chill. I think many young people have another relation to sex compared with past generations.

Sex is everywhere. In the advertisements and non-stop on the internet. Children or teenagers see sex way earlier at least online (I am not 100% sure if this is factually right). I know some of my friends consumed hard core porn very early. They said this was pretty unhealthy for their sexual development. I think due to porn many people have a distorted notion of sex. Everything has to be perfect. Everything has to look or feel like in pornos. I could imagine many are disappointed because they don't have a realistic notion of sex. The pressure to fail at sex is way higher.

I think the internet is one big reason why there is less sex. But the article elaborates well on it. It is worth a read.
maybe this is one reason why there are less children and the pension system will collapse. At least where I live.

I have also heard that people are having less sex today, compared to the past. I believe that it's a misnomer, though, since the people who are having sex probably have it often, while the rest of the people don't have any at all. You could think of it the way we say "The haves and the have-nots" when it comes to the economy. In other words, it's only the average amount of sex that has decreased.

One important factor is that women attend higher education at a higher rate than men, and since they often look for men who earn more or have a higher status than themselves, that leaves them with a very small pool of eligible men to choose from - all the while those few men sleep around with most women, which makes the women feel used. In the end, I fear that most people will end up alone, and we are looking at a population implosion in the coming decades, due to a lack of births.

From another perspective, this kind of dysfunctional dating market is needed if you believe that the planet is overpopulated. This way, we can balance out the huge number of excess men, and also some women, who are simply left over.

wow thats interesting, i hear about 13-14 year olds getting pregnant in this generation and its so disgusting, why would they fuck up their life like that? is it hard to use protection or wait?
