I like the pharse catch the bus to describe ending ones life.
I am curious where did the pharse come from?
Why do we use it
Is there a meaning behind it

For me CTB means closing the book. Might make more sense to you?

It came from an old Usenet newsgroup, which was kinda like this site.

The meaning behind the quote is said to be:

A bus stop where several people have decided to stop and chat before deciding on whether or not to get on the bus.

There is a famous suicide site in the UK called Beachy Head where people jump to their death. People would "catch the bus" from town centre to jump.

Did you know?

If someone is "three sheets to the wind", that phrase came from when a windmill would lose a fan of the four and become wobbly/unstable.

But I think catch the bus overall somewhat instills a bit of hope as the bus will eventually have to drop you off somewhere, maybe a phrase of confidence along the lines of "i'll see you on the other side".

For some reason I used to think CTB meant "crossing the bridge," which I still can never stop automatically reading it as no matter how hard I try.
