Our body is extremely complex, why don't we have, for exemple, a way to "close" our ears the same as we close our eyes, so that we don't have to listen to things we don't want to listen?
Or why don't we have a system to stop pain on command? We are capable of producing ultra powerful pain killer hormones but we have no control over it.
I get that life wants to expend, but we're not in the Stone Age anymore when pain was really useful, now pain just makes us live a miserable long life.
At least in the Stone Age, people who are in great pain, inapt to reproduce and be functionnal, were outcasted and would die of hunger or eaten by a wild animal. That's natural selection. But in this era we can't even die, we are forced to live a long life of suffering. Some people even manage to reproduce and give the "unwanted genes".
I wish there was a biological system that allows us to die when in great pain.
Or at least sleep on command for a long time or hibernate or whatever
