Our body is extremely complex, why don't we have, for exemple, a way to "close" our ears the same as we close our eyes, so that we don't have to listen to things we don't want to listen?
Or why don't we have a system to stop pain on command? We are capable of producing ultra powerful pain killer hormones but we have no control over it.
I get that life wants to expend, but we're not in the Stone Age anymore when pain was really useful, now pain just makes us live a miserable long life.
At least in the Stone Age, people who are in great pain, inapt to reproduce and be functionnal, were outcasted and would die of hunger or eaten by a wild animal. That's natural selection. But in this era we can't even die, we are forced to live a long life of suffering. Some people even manage to reproduce and give the "unwanted genes".
I wish there was a biological system that allows us to die when in great pain.
Or at least sleep on command for a long time or hibernate or whatever

Because in order to survive as a species, we developed a masochistic nature - to thrive in this life, you must accept suffering and pain as part and parcel of the equation of life. And possibly even take pleasure from it.

"Life is supposed to be hard".

Or you reject this stupid pointless paradigm, and refuse to play. But there are consequences to this.

Exactly.
It's unfair, in an ideal world you would get the benefits of life from playing it, and if you refuse to play it you simply get nothing, but you don't get to suffer either.
But in this world if you refuse to play you live a daily nightmare, you really are forced to play.
Technically, the true meaning of "refusing to play" is to ctb, but even this is hard to do, reliable methods are hard to access and there are always a risk of getting caught/failing and ending in ward or hospital.

Existence is such a curse to me, it's something so terrible being trapped in the decaying flesh prison that is the human body where we cannot easily set ourselves free from this existence we were burdened with. I just see existence as being unnecessary suffering that there was never a need for in the first place, it disgusts me how humans glorify this and insist that it must be prolonged at all costs when in reality nobody should have to suffer for even a second longer than they desire to.
