I think its simply because there is so much stigma associated with suicide, we have no right to die and it is seen as an immoral act so people might say this to make them feel shame for considering it.

The way I see it if there were no God there would be nothing that exists, and the fact that consciousness exists especially seems unlikely without some form of a God. I know people say consciousness is only from the body, well we can make an AI that behaves like a human but we don't think that's conscious so there's something more to it. I spent a lot of time reading the bible and got to the point where I objectively know it's not true because of contradictions I found, I don't think God is from any religion we know about and I don't think you have to believe in an afterlife even if you believe in a God, just my thoughts.

I'm not even someone who believes specifically in reincarnation but the theory of reincarnation doesn't necessarily require that your personality be reincarnated, just the consciousness. The new body would have a new personality or maybe the same brain structure so it would have the same personality for each various age if you wanted to be more religious about it,

Also as we grow older our cells die and get replaced, eventually, our body will have none of the same materials it was originally made out of, even though it's the same consciousness through each age.

Actually the brain generating consciousness is a theory that is on empirically pretty shaky ground these days. It's more plausible to believe that it filters consciousness. But the question of what is the true personality is still relevant. A lot of who we think we are seems to be tied to our meat suit.
