Her method of death was so tragic, drinking alcohol, two bottles of vodka. She was somewhat emaciated apparently from just drinking and not eating much if at all in the last months of her life. But still, she died doing something she apparently loved, and her body, probably her liver just quit. It sounds peaceful. And also since she was so intoxicated probably painless.

I've been drunk until I passed out before but always woke up the next day. I wonder how she managed it?

Of course I've never drunk two bottles of liquor in one evening. The most I've had was probably about 8 shots of it over an entire evening. I wouldn't stay conscious long enough to drink two bottles.

There have been some fraternity hazing cases where the new members were encouraged or forced to keep drinking alcohol until they died. One poor guy was left alone in the basement until the next day, dead.

I'd like to die like that too.
I'm glad you can drink booze at least. I have no freedom and alcohol is forbidden for me since I failed to CTB.
Geez! A beer or some champagne would be really useful now.

A bar company I used to work for kicked a guy out for being too drunk once. After he left he drank a bottle of vodka in the parking lot then passed out. It snowed and he froze to death and was found weeks later during a thaw.

They almost shut down the whole location and fired everyone but we engaged a deep legal battle to keep everyone at work.

So anyways you could always try that Lord knows I have lol

I'm not sure if it would be peaceful. She probably choked on her own vomit. Although, she did have pre existing conditions that helped path that road

A friend of a family member died at an ordinary frat party
He passed out in the wrong position and asphyxiated on his own vomit
He most likely wasn't conscious so he had no idea it had happened. Eerie but peaceful at the same time, unless he woke up while it was happening.

There is a lot to unpack here, you start off by saying its tragic but then say its was impressive and probably painless. This is very irresponsible, addiction is a very serious issue we need to be careful a) not to glamorize the disease of addiction b) present her death as a "suicide method" overdoses in general are unreliable, but alcohol is especially unlikely to kill you and cause serious damage to major organs. Her death was tragic, and not something we should strive for or present as a reliable option.

It is just finding out the appropriate amount of alcohol that you need to consume to get your blood alcohol concentration up to the level of approximately 0.40% that leads to coma and death. You can search for a BAC calculator and input your weight and number of drinks over a number of hours - keep adjusting until you get to about 0.40%.

Examples, for a person weighing 100 lbs it takes 9 drinks (1.5 oz = 15.5 oz) in 3 hours to reach a lethal BAC.
For a person weighing 200 lbs it takes 17 drinks (1.5 oz = 25.5 oz) in the same 3 hour period to reach a lethal BAC.

So it is much easier for someone with a low weight to get in the 9 drinks than someone who weighs more. Also, as the BAC rises you'll get very drunk and increase the chance of passing out before you finish drinking enough. This is why college hazing can turn bad, if the weight of the person is low, they can quickly drink enough for the BAC to become too high. Because that is what happens, they drink a lot, in a short amount of time and even if passing out, there is still alcohol in their stomach that hasn't gotten into the blood. So people pass out and then the BAC continues to rise.

Killing yourself with alcohol isn't easy. Your stomach can only handle so much in a session. Issues you will deal with are vomiting, dizziness, not being coordinated enough to actually drink more and blacking out.

Being a long-term alcoholic isn't an easy way to go either. Your liver or other medical complications will inevitably take you, but you're talking years down the line. Your body adapts and you become tolerant. Some of the non-lethal negatives of trying to drink yourself to death are poor skin problems (dry, itchy, red and ugly), a friend of mine would get dry eyes and had to have drops like 5 times a day, physical weakness, debilitating headaches, waking up feeling nauseous every single day, body odour problems, erectile dysfunction, etc etc etc. You're basically just poisoning yourself with the weakest poison around. Might as well just take up smoking and have fewer of the negatives.

... alcohol is especially unlikely to kill you and cause serious damage to major organs.
I'd love to see your sources on that. Other than what you see with "alcohol poisoning/vomiting asphyxiation" incidences: My father drank himself to death with vodka with no other known health issues. I imagine he would have gone much faster with underlying conditions. He was in his 50's. Another friend of mine was in a coma from alcohol poisoning for weeks until he passed away. He was in his early 30's.
I will not speak for MG, but it appears you have taken their statement very out of context. I do not see any glorification.
If anything, use of alcohol is dangerous & worthy of discussion... not necessarily as a potential CTB attempt, though many have used alcohol poisoning & have been effective.

Oh, it can... you're just not doing it right. In your case, you'd have to pound a shit ton to die, to the point of no return. No one can say exactly how much that is, though... just guesstimates, because everybody's systems have different reactions.
I would classify it as a highly-risky "method" to CTB, if anyone was thinking about it.

Not sure about those calculations. As someone who regularly drank 4 bottles of wine a day and is 130lbs, I should be dead about 1000 times over.

I'd say the most drank in a day would be 2 bottles of champagne, 4 Bottles of wine and ½ litre of vodka. So.... maybe I'm actually already dead.

That's the problem, I can't drink a ton of it before I pass out or feel very uncomfortable.

It would be like, guzzling a heaping ton for you from the git-go. Most of our bodies would probably say, "oh HEEEAAAILLL NOOO," during the process & vomit. There's unconventional ways of consuming alcohol, too. :eh:

Well, as with any method, if someone has a history of abusing a substance it will require much more to achieve the same results. It is just a matter of quantity over time - as it is with any toxic substance. You obviously had built up a tolerance to alcohol - but props to you for being able to consume so much in a day. Hopefully, it wasn't within 3 short hours but spread out over most of the day.

She wasn't just a skinny alcoholic, she had years of serious drug and alcohol use behind her, so if you really want to know how "peaceful" it is to die from substance abuse, there's a good place to start.

She had such talent. I loved her music and stage presence even when she was so drunk she couldn't sing.
and she had so much stuff to look at between the hair tattoos and makeup.

Couldn't agree with you any more! It's strange how even the people with the largest of talents are not immune to problems or trouble.
But yes, outside of the stage, she had many other issues to deal with... I hope she found her peace. Poor Amy!

There are a few factors in order for it to work. I know her health wasn't the best and her liver probably was shot. I'm an alcoholic and been sober 8 years. I use to be able to put away a bottle of rum a night when I drank. Earlier this year I thought about jumping off the wagon and downing a bottle with choice meds and take a bubble bath. You know just to see if it might work. Didn't try it. Still think about it though.

I wouldn't advise ctb via alcohol too. If you are skinny then maybe it has a low chance of success. However if you are normal/overweight there's no way.
