Why are people so mean?

My whole life ive been bullied/ridiculed. So I don't know why im still sensitive, the other day my sister was on video call with her friends, after I told her not to flick the camera at me… of course she did. They immediately began calling me chopped (ugly) and yes it did make me cry because out of all things they made fun of me for of course it had to be the one thing I can't change. Everyday I get closer to ctb.

Some people are just unhappy or insecure in some sort of way deep down so they get joy out of deprecating others as it makes them feel superior. Please don't let it hurt your feelings, it doesn't define anything about you. Even if you do genuinely think you're unattractive that doesn't make your life any less worthy than someone else's. There is a small glimmer of hope for everyone no matter how you see it. It's just up to you how you want to see things.

so sorry that happened to u. It's really silly that as humans we do things to others knowing full well it's awful and would hate jt to happen to us.


I can confidently say one reason (not the only reason) is that they may fear that if they're not mean first and establish dominance then they will be the target of other mean ppl. It's like a popularity thing. We could all be nice but one mean person's approval is worth more than everyone being kind because no one wants to be at the other end of that person's words.

I know this from experience. When i was like 11 or 10 there was this lid who everyone would make fun of and if you didn't join in or defended him the next joke would be about you. I personally had no issue with him at first but i noticed my weight was almost close to his so if anyone even mentioned it, i would immediately make fun of him instead to shift targets from me to him.

I'm not saying that's why ppl are mean to u specifically, I'm just saying this is one reason. A case of one rotten apple spoiling the basket.

In ur case those ppl are just assholes and are probably insecure so they make fun of u to make themselves feel better and to bond becasue they don't have anything better to do with their time or energy.
