Great question. Sharing of information before an attempt is far less serious that actually helping during an attempt. I can't remember where I got this information or exactly where they draw the line but I remember very well that once I read up on it I felt far more comfortable giving sources. There's also safety in numbers on here. With so many people sharing sources anonymously there's quite a lot of safety in that. So all-round it's not so bad. Technically people could just find the sources on Google themselves anyway. The law's first target would be to take this site down since a lot of information can only be found here or on PPeH. But the PPeH is still going too, amazingly, and they give a wealth of information. Just giving out a couple of sources is quite minor.
But one thing I'd never do, for example, is partner with someone IRL for CTB. That's asking for prison if you fail and they succeed, as you could have stopped them. It's also why I don't like participating in goodbye threads, because legally we should be trying to stop the person but it's strongly frowned upon in this forum. So I generally stay clear.
