I watched both Ghost in the Shell movies recently. And I consider to watch Gits Stand Alone Complex again. I am really curious about the new series that gets Released 2026.

The author was ahead of his time for sure. Shirow published the Manga in 1989. The 1996 movie is more relevant than ever. It plays in the year 2029.

He failed to imagine WiFi though. And robotics is in our world pretty far behind. In the franchise transhumanism is a thing. And many people replaced their organic body with a cyborg body. You can also enhance your cognitive abilities and memory.

Recently, I also watched Akira. Akira plays 2019 I think.

I think futuroligsts consult sci-fi authors when necessary. That's fascinating for me.

Star Wars pre-disney had soooo many cool worldbuilding ideas. It actually felt like an alien galaxy. I still play SWTOR at times because the world is so cool.

I really enjoyed the Culture books by Ian M. Banks, Especially Surface Detail and the way he depicts the virtual hell and what the character goes through.

The Expanse is great as well, too bad they didn't continue the show though.

I was fascinated by V, maybe because I wasn't allowed to watch it as a kid. The only thing I remember is that they ate rats.

The world in The Long Earth series of books sparked my imagination - it was a twist on the "many worlds" hypothesis but had fixed worlds in a line that people worked out how to travel between. Each world further from our one was slightly different from the last due to the variances of evolution (particularly the lack of human dominance) and each book expanded on the concept in quite interesting ways.
