I've tried partial suspension hanging and have failed. I can't do it. I can't figure it out. People make it sound so easy, but I just can't pass out despite trying around a dozen times before with many different ligatures. I'm thinking of maybe full suspension hanging since I'm more likely to suppress my carotid arteries. But I've also thought about a gunshot wound... which method should I chose? I know if I suppress my carotid arteries I'll lose conciousness within seconds but heard it can be very painful during that time and can feel like an eternity. I don't know if taking a pain killer and Xanax beforehand would be of any help. And maybe hyperventilating for 1-2 minutes so I don't have the panic response as much. But I like how the gun is instant. The other issue is I don't know if I'll be able to get a gun so I would go for a muzzle loader. Thanks in advance. My primary concern is how effective the methods are.

I never could shot myself so hanging.

Also, I prefer failing hanging than with a shotgun.

And bloody methods pushes me back very strongly.

It's something personal, I think both could be reliable IF WELL DONE.

Yeah, failing with the shotgun, literally ain't pretty. I saw one or two disfigured faces, I don't get how it came to that though, wrong aim perhaps?I'd rather go for full suspension.

Thanks guys. I'll start out with full suspension hanging and if that doesn't work, I'm going to get a gun.

In full suspension unless the height is sufficient and you break your neck, you die of strangulation. Thus is the advantage of partial suspension, but yeah like you say easier said than done. I tried it with weed eater line (for practice) and felt it would have worked, a thinner line will give a higher psi quicker, I immediately got the sensation of dropping like a roller coaster and some strange hearing disturbances.

Hmm maybe I was uszing the wrong rope. I'll try a different rope and if I can't get partial suspension to work it'll have to full suspension.

If I remember correctly (its been years)I had the Knott part in front so it was completely off the windpipe, I was doing this in an ,1920's house in a closet with a hardwood dowel suspended about 2 feet above my head while sitting down. The weed eater line was a pretty thick variety and not as thin as they usually are, and didn't cut in the skin or anything like that.

In full suspension you die from brain hypoxia, just like in partial suspension, because your carotid arteries and jugular veins get closed shut the moment you kick the chair. Hypoxia != strangulation

Sorry, but I'm kind of a hanging nerd, I get triggered when people mention the "breaking your neck" myth xD

In Washington state hanging is still a capital punishment option and the idea is indeed to break the neck complete with drop recommendation and weight tables to be added to aid in a quick and clean execution.

And you can do the same with full - place the knot at the front of your neck and you will still die from hypoxia while being able to breathe. You don't need to close the windpipe.
The mechanism of death is the same as in partial - blood flow to the brain gets cut off, you pass out within seconds and die. It's more painful at the beginning, sure, but the horrible scenarios with neck breaking or struggling to breathe for minutes while being fully aware what's happening are not true and that was my point...
