My first thought is sex workers. I am a supporter of many policies from Scandinavia. But I strongly disagree with their policies on prostitution. And there is also another insane policy. It was at least in the news not sure if they really implemented this idea. One has to sign a contract before one has sexual intercourse with another person. This should protect people from rapings. I want to emphasize with that that the circumstances under which prostitution happens don't get better by criminalize it. Moreover I think this job should be stigmatized way less. Some people really like this job. Why should adults me prohibited to sell sex? Sex is everywhere. The media, films, the internet etc. It is kind of natural. And prostitution is a business which is very old.

But I think people who offer sex get not the respect they deserve. They are called disrespectful terms.

Okay now maybe some jobs without a long explanation.

Garbage men. You get not much money but the society was fucked without them. Everywhere it would smell horribly.

Cleaners. I think I have met some of them during my time in psychiatry. Some were quite friendly. I think one of them alluded at least I am not mentally fucked though I have to do this job. Not sure if this really happened or whether this was just one (stereotypical) thought of mine. Though Iam sure of them talked with enjoyment about their family. I think many say to themselves I hope my kids will have better opportunities than me. It is a long time I have met some. Like 4 years ago. I don't remember everything.

Moreover I have high respect for undertakers. There is one who is frequently in the German media. He is a huge supporter of assisted suicide. And he wants that the people get an healthier relation to our own death. I sympathize with him a lot. It is a difficult job. Probably also sometimes quite an emotional one.

Warehouse, fast food, retail. The list goes on. Lots of jobs don't pay accordingly.

+1 to this. You can even find people leaning toward leftist politics (who're supposed to side w workers) making fun of "burger flippers" and such. Breaks my heart bc these are some of the sweetest people you'll meet.

Call center work. I'd rather pull every tooth out of my mouth than work at a call center ever again. I was paid quite decently but it wasn't enough to cover the constant berating, yelling, blaming, crying, and stupidity I had to endure. And these people were call in for me to help them. It's not like it was a cold calling job.

I know quite a few blue collar workers who work in mining and related industries (manufacturing). They often get looked down on by white collar suburbanites who actually make less than they do. It's bizarre. The world runs off blue collar workers. They can't do their job on Zoom. Yet people automatically assume they're trashy because they don't have a college degree, and work in the trades.

Mail delivery workers, particulary during these times. Not paid well enough considering the fact that we rely on them to deliver our important mail on time in all sorts of weather.

Any job. Especially minimum wage workers. Food service, retail, janitors, etc. come to mind. The greedy capitalists who hoard all the wealth and the boomers who lick their boots like to claim that these jobs are "unskilled" or whatever and that's why they're not deserving of a living wage, but I'd like to see all the minimum wage workers quit their jobs and watch just how fast society would collapse.

literally any job that involves cleaning anything or any job that requires you to serve customers. these people basically keep society functioning and work harder than literally anyone else and most people look down on them, meanwhile the richest people are either actors who make millions by distracting you and pretending to be people for a living or people who just sit on top of companies who are probably lazy as fuck.

Oddly enough, i was gonna say morticians and you mentioned undertakers. Though undertakers and morticians are extremely different jobs so i'd like you to not think i'm connecting them at all though i'd like to say both are seen as very gross jobs done by gross people and i don't think that's fair. I've been a mortician for 4 years and though it's a rough job it is not "gross" or "inhumane" in any way. If you are too rough with the corpses or mistreat them you will most definitely get scolded by the funeral parlor director's. The job also requires a lot of practice and you need to have good memory for it as well, it is a job that involves a lot of pressure and skill, to call what I consider an art form of one's performance "gross" or "disgusting" is not only an insult but foolish. Those people's corpses should be eaten by pigs for their stupidity and obtuse behavior.
