Most not working, I suppose that shows how badly off people here are unsurprisingly. I lost my job due to physical ill-health a few years back and was not working due to a combination of physical and mental impairment. I had been trying really hard to look for a new job Before much worse depression hit and brought me to this site

I literally resigned 3/20 and was due to start that following Monday at a new company doing art installation. That told me they hold my position, but then in mid-May changed the initial pay offered to where it was insultingly low. I know a lot of people lost jobs, but I felt they were taking unnecessary advantage of the situation. $4 an hour is a big difference for me but I can't see how much difference it'd be for a multi-million dollar company. If I would have accepted it I would have resented it. Plus I'm 99% sure they changed the offer amount because they didn't want to hire me anymore, but because they told me they would they decided it was better to get me to reject it.

@thebrinkimdriven you live in the UK. I live in the UK as well. I live in London
Sorry to hear that. Why did you resign?

One of my friends are on furlough.

A lot of people on furlough will lose thier jobs which is so unfair as the purpose of furlough it so protect jobs. British airways are planning reduancies for thier staff. Most of airline staff are on furlough.
Businesses are going to adminstriation it is scary

@mediocre
I never worked either. I am 23 .We are same boat. Anyway you got me to talk me about your unemployment woes any time you want. Friends :)

I hate being unemployed because i feel purposeless and just a failure. I avoid people i know because i am scared they will ask what i have been doing. I lie to my friends i am working just to avoid questions.
I am on universal credit. It is humilating

I never thought in my life i would be benefits. Imagine graduating university and end up on benefits
It is so embrassing. I watched shows like benefits streeet and these benefits shows in the UK.

Being on benefits in the UK you are seen as a failure. I hope one day i can forget all this . I would love to forget all this.

Unemployment has worsened my already declining mental health.

Seeing a therapist would be pointless because if i had a job today my self esteem would improve a little bit.

I get rejected for everything retail, supermarkets, office jobs etc.

I feel so sorry for the children who parents work in the nhs and also people who work in the care home.

They know the enemy is here when they go to the hospital but where. Everyday they are going to fight an invisible enemy and then go back home.

A boy in my sisters school his mother is an NHS nurse. He stills go to school as both parents are key workers.

This lockdown is a sham. It was not a real lockdown.
Heading back to work tmrw
@Eurus
Have a lovely day at work and keep safe ok.
Dont forget your mask. :)

In the UK where i live on the 15th June it will be compulsory to wear a mask when going on public transport.
Failure to wear will result in a fine or be refused entry on transport
There exceptions for those with disablities and younger children

Thank you, @FireFox. It's a long story, but in short, last year was the icing on a cake a few years in the making, and it followed me into work. I felt isolated from the team and bullied by a few of them also.

I'm also within Greater London! :)

Ikr, there's chaos heading our way. With our current Government, I am dreading how we'll emerge from all this. I doubt they'll be the radical economic paradigm shift we need and that means we're probably going to experience more austerity and cutbacks. It's all based on myths and it's all a mess.

I'm not being rude here but if you don't work how do you get your own place? I have a job, and cant afford to rent right now.
How do you eat, pay bills like rent, gas, electric, water, phone, internet with no job?

What about simple stuff like soaps and shampoos and clothes and luxuries like Netflix and haircuts annnnd allllll them other basic things that make life can I say easier?
That might sound silly and selfish because some people out there have none of those things. I don't mean to sound selfish at all.
I go to work because I want those simple luxuries in life. How do you have necessities and simple luxuries and live comfortably with no job.

I'm a hotel manager very happy to be furloughed as its crazy stressful at the best of times. My degree is hotel and catering but I would love to change to a 9-5 job. The shitty thing is with my experience and qualifications it's actually hard to get a Job that is lower than what I do. I'm a food and beverage manager so I'm considered senior management and no one would give me a job in a cafe etc they think I wouldn't be fulfilled. I think fuck that I just want easier hours
