Where in the USA can I buy a firearm without a background check?

I know they sell guns at the local flea market. Would they have to check? Are there any other options?

There's no federal requirement to do background checks between private parties but some states require private sellers of guns to do a background check, some don't. I'm guessing if they're selling guns at your local flea markets you're in a state that does not, but a quick search should let you figure this out.

Walmart would definitely require a background check. Anybody with a Federal Firearms License has to do one. Plus none of the ones I've been to in an area several hundred miles around where I live even sell guns, alas. What I get for being in a liberal hellhole, I guess.

What's odd is there is a Cabela's near me and it looked like they had enough rifles in stock to supply a small country's army. If an army would use .22s, .30-30s and shotguns, I guess, since the state I live in also restricts the types of guns hunters can use, e.g. only shotguns for deer, no rifles. Didn't see any pistols there, but I wasn't really looking, either. Went to the place with a buddy who is an avid fisherman so we didn't spend much time in the gun section.

Red states, like Texas or Arizona. And even there, you will have to show your ID, and there might be a short waiting period for a few days, before you can have the firearm in your hands. However, if your ID is from out of state, that could complicate things, because most sellers sell guns only to in-state residents.

If you live in a blue state, like me, your best bet is SN or another non-firearm method.

How do you purchase a gun in the USA? Do you need a permit, etc? What, how are the steps?

I know guns are way harder to get in America than most people online like to make it out to be but is it possible to go to a gun-range and not request any person helping you, that way no one would be able to stop you doing it

Buy an older gun not being made anymore (no papers/no background check). I own firearms that you can buy now and have background checks and papers. My friend on the other hand the other day told me about their firearms I asked how they got all their guns with no background check or papers and it was because of the age of the gun.
I'm also located in the US TX
You can probably find sellers online (kraigs list or something in TX it's everywhere) just ask about the gun find out the age if it's still being made and then how they would like to carry out the exchange.
My friend had no idea background checks or papers where done on guns even though he now has a collection… so Just check if the firearm you are looking to purchased is still being manufactured and then buy it off someone.

Don't do this. It could destroy other people mentally and doom a small business to ruin. It's never cool to screw up somebody else on your way out.

It depends on the state. In states like Alaska or Arizona, you can pretty much walk into a Walmart and buy one. In states like New York or California, you gotta apply for a permit, undergo background checks, and do a waiting period, all of which will be at least a month long. (Unless, of course, you're in a gang; then your "guy" gives you a gun.) And no, sorry, you can't just go out of state; you have to show your state ID. Lenient firearm purchase rules in conservative states are for in-state residents only.

Well, most people don't own such guns, even in red states. And when they do, they don't use them to CTB.. But if that's your choice, go with it and be careful.

I made all my guns in my workshop. Lost them all in a boating accident though :(

Also the ammo shortage is A WAY BIGGER problem you should be thinking about. What's the point in a gun with no ammo?

no but the magical connection is that there's plenty of people who own guns AND eat fruit loops. so, next time you're shopping for cereal, OP, talk to someone. /s

No. Guns are sequestered in their own section, and kept in a locked display cabinet. But buying them is easy: you just get an ID check, to make sure you're not barred from buying them, like having a past criminal record.

And without a license for that ammo.. many good weapon blueprints but not quite so for ammo melting.

This looks like a 3D-printed firearm. Which were made illegal in most US states. Plus, I have no fucking clue how they'd even work! Plastic would just melt as a bullet went through it---metals parts of guns and rifles, as well as bullets themselves, get very hot.

Nope, it looks like AR-15 with pink coating. There is a site name beneath the gun.

This looks pretty cute ngl

That's the point. Most of guns in USA are owned by men. There is a potential market for "female friendly" guns.

Got it from Hankey Toys, right?

Just googled pink AR-15.

And yet, looking at crime statistics, women need guns a lot more than men... Many 380 pistols are marketed toward women.

The funny thing is owning/carrying a gun is pretty useless without training, which most people don't have. It's great if you can shoot a 4" spread from a handgun at 30 yards - but that will have virtually no impact on your ability to defend yourself with a gun in a close-range, life or death situation. There's a reason cops open carry - the seconds it takes to get a gun from a concealed holster or out of a purse are usually enough for the threat to close to within arms reach.

I wasn't talking about self defense, gun use, or gun politics. Pink guns exist for "business reasons". AR-15 market is saturated, and they are trying to target new demographic by painting stuff in pink. Similar thing happened some time ago when Gillete started painting razors in pink and marketing them to women.
