Where to CTB - Hotel or Home?

I have everything in order and I am ready to ctb. I just need a location. Here are my options:


Option A:

Book a hotel room for a few days to give myself plenty of time before being found. Pros: Clean up will be taken care by the hotel and they have the resources and protocols in place to handle this. Cons: Might be harder to overcome SI in an unfamiliar environment.

Option B:

Do it in my apartment. Pros: It will be the most familiar and comfortable environment to ctb. Cons: Family will probably have to get involved. Don't want the police going through my stuff.


What you do think is the best choice here? Or if you have an alternative location that is private and comfortable please post details. Thanks.

Be careful with the hotel option. Make sure the walls are thick and at least somewhat soundproof. The staff might come in if they hear you making odd noises.

For me it's a hotel room or a nice spot in nature I think. One of my family members would find me otherwise and I already feel immeasurable guilt over wanting to CTB because of what it will do to them. Having one of them find my lifeless body is not an option.

Personally going with hotel because of the same pros you listed.

I'm against doing it at home cause I don't want to devalue the family home, don't want them traumatized finding my lifeless body, and don't want cops searching my room

I would do it at home only if I live alone and i can somehow arrange for my body to be found soon enough by anyone other than a family member. Else hotel seems to be the best option in most cases even though it is not my preferred

You make a good point. A hotel room is probably the best option by default. Doing it at home would be better if it wasn't for all the complications. A part of me is thinking, "Fuck it, I won't be around to deal with the consequences." But my responsible side is nagging at me to make it easier for my family, even though they are the reason why I am ctb in the first place.

Hotel - home affects property value and is eternal reminder for household- not sure SI is much different no matter what location is chosen.

My preference is a day use hotel. It's just a few hours but plenty to leave. Regardless, I think the police will go through your stuff when you're dead regardless of where you choose to leave. It is your choice, so pick what is most comfortable to you.

To my knowledge, the police won't search your home if you ctb in a hotel. That makes no sense, and they have no reason to

Ah, I suppose making an ass of yourself is what happens with assumptions. I just figured they would at least show up to interview the family and then check on the room he lived in normally.

They would probably do that if they found someone murdered in a hotel room, not for a cut and dry ctb

But I wouldn't be surprised if they showed up to notify family. No reason for them to go in and search for a clear ctb though. I'll be leaving a note with a family member's number to call, so there's even less of a reason for them to show up

That's up to you, but I wouldn't want my family to find my body. I would much rather traumatize a stranger, so hotel room.
But as in while you CTB, it's probably more peaceful and easier to do it at home, obviously.

If you do go with a hotel room, not being heard is a key concern. Having worked in the hotel business a long time, Sunday night is by far the slowest night in the hotel business, so I would try for that if I could. Also I would request top floor in a quite area- just let them know you are a light sleeper so as quiet as possible for sleeping really helps. That way they may try to keep it so that you are not next to other occupied rooms, though this is not always possible- I wouldn't specifically ask to not be next to other occupied rooms because that would sound suspicious and could cause them to patrol by your room more often- honestly with a big red floag like that they might walk past your room a lot more often to see if they can hear anything strange. During the pandemic it is slow during the week, especially mondays and tuesdays, so these days are ok , too. Fridays and Saturdays are the busiest times now so there is more chance of being heard on these nights. I do think a hotel room is better than your apartment in case your landlord might want to get rid of you in case of a failed attempt to avoid the stress to other tenants- it does happen.

I would prefer to go either at home or in a hotel but neither have an anchor point for full suspension so I have to find a spot in the open to do it.

If I do full suspension at home I will put up two heavy duty plastic shelving units to 7 or 7.5 feet high and zip tie a heavy metal bar across them- this is obviously only feasible if you live alone.

this is the biggest issue I have with ctb. I dont want my family to be the ones to find me. I dont wanna scar someone on the hotel staff. I dont want friends to see me like that. so idk

I share your concern so I've settled for a spot that's neither. It's tricky if I'm found earlier or in distress...

The police have no reason to search your home. Making this process as streamlined as possible is probably the best course of action. I keep going back and forth on this but leaning towards hotel.

They can search your home if they suspect foul play or are uncertain about this- it does happen.

My personal plan is to take a long drive along the scenic highway in my area and find a nice spot to pull over. I'll have some time to think and reflect upon my predicament and a nice last view. Not too much traffic in the area and I won't have to bother anybody I know. I do feel a little bad if anyone but a cop were to pull over and see if anything was wrong, but at the same time I don't really care all that much.

Hotel Room mainly because I don't want family to find me and to leave a horrible stigma behind in either my condo or family home and potentially decrease it's resale. Having all the neighbors see the commotion as well is something I would prefer to not have happen. I am terribly sorry for the Hotel Staff. I wish I could just disappear. I think Hotel with N is the best option considering the circumstances
