Discussion When you have a cold or the flu, do you want more strongly to do CTB?

We have all gotten sick but I agree that a suicidal person is affected differently. Feeling bad physically lowers the spirit of living.
I don't think this has ever been discussed. I found it interesting to ask this question

i actually find when i get sick im less suicidal because my mind is paying more attention to throwing up and how to stop it

Any kind of illness makes me more suicidal

I came down with Covid a few days ago after my 3rd week on a new job. While I'm feeling a bit better now, the initial symptoms were pretty rough and definitely had me defaulting back to seeing CTB as a favorable option. The combination of the unpleasantness of the symptoms, remorse for possibly exposing my workmates by coming in instead of just calling out and getting tested first, and the general stress of the new job were definitely making CTB feel like cozy fallback option again. Feeling a bit better now has pushed it to the backburner again and now just focusing on making sure I'm okay to return on Tuesday and take the proper precautions when I do return till I'm sure I am no longer contagious.

as someone who's sick rn, my initial thought whenever i'm sick is "fuck, im dying." which is funny because i know deep down i'm not. but tbh, i don't really feel more suicidal. in fact, i wanna get better. i still want to ctb, just not with a stuffed nose and a dry cough lol.

In a weird way when I get a cold/flu I kind of like it because I can stay in bed and not feel bad about myself and sleep all day, although saying that I hate sore throat that is the worst.

Oh, yes. When I'm sick (especially with a sore throat) my suicidal thoughts run high. The discomfort of physical pain influences mental pain as well... This is probably more common than we think.

It doesn't take much to make me feel even more suicidal. In a life like this things can easily get so much worse for us. Of course having a cold or the flu would make me more suicidal. I think that it's awful how our bodies can cause us to experience so much misery and this is why non existence is ideal as it's the absence of everything, the dead are incapable of suffering.

I won't find out because I don't get sick much, just 2 colds in 23 years
