What’s wrong with being a good-for-nothing?

If society forces me to live and not die, why can't I just be a good-for-nothing while still living in society? Why can't I just live off my parents' money and not pay back whatever debt I owe to anyone by being born without my consent?

Yea its stupid that its seen as immoral that we are forced to do work and provide for society when we were forced here and they don't give us the choice to die. To me being forced to do anything is immoral. We really don't have much freedom at all :<

Because if everyone lived like that society as we know it would collapse. That's why only kids of the elite are allowed to not have a job and fuck around with daddy's money. Because the amount of people who can actually afford to not work a day in their life is extremely small.

Don't worry about what other people think though. There are much worse things to be than a neet.

Objectively there's no reason you can't. I really hate the term 'society' because people treat it like it's an entity unto itself and not just a collection of individuals.
Other people have no right to tell you how to live. But, unfortunately, there are real consequences for bucking the system so be sure you're willing to risk that.

If your parents are wealthy enough to support you then- I don't entirely see the harm. I tend to lean towards anti-natalism and feel it's unfair to bring a lifeform here and expect it to pay for the 'privelage' of living. Especially if it ends up hating life! It's effectively a level of slavery at that point- forcing a person to work, when they don't want to. Where the money they earn sustains a life they don't even want!

When parents can't or won't support their children though, it falls to society to do it or, be criticized for letting the person starve.

Of course, they could qualify for benefits. Then, it can be argued that they've been officially declared 'unfit to work.' What if they don't qualify though? I doubt I would. My parents and family would also give me so much shit if I didn't work. In some ways, that would feel worse- so, to a greater extent, I comply. That said, I've worked hard to do it on my terms. I've studied, invested and worked hard to at least do a job I find more tolerable.

Ultimately though now- I'm tired too. I think I'd be happier as a NEET. I don't think it's feasible for me though. I also know loads of other people who detest their jobs.

Some of what we begrudgingly earn goes to support people who genuinely can't work. That's fair. We're supposed to be a 'society' after all. We're supposed to look after one another. Some will also go to benefit fraudsters though. Some who have worked out how to 'play the system'. They can work but, they don't want to. We probably don't want to either! Why should they get our money?

Myself and others have picked up long-term injuries from work. Not to mention what it does to our mental health. Is that fair either? Should we be forced to pay for complete strangers who have decided they don't like the idea of work?

Ultimately, I feel the stipulation that we must work is unfair. Birthing someone into this system and expecting them to comply is unfair. However, now we are here, our actions or inactions affect others. Is it fair that they are expected to support us? Especially if they don't even know us!

I don't think I could comfortably claim benefits- even if I qualified, because I know I can work. I hate the system too. I don't enjoy paying into it. Still, not paying in likely wouldn't change much. I'd likely end up destitute- long- term and the system would just grind on.

Still, I suppose if enough youngsters refuse to work, it will maybe make would- be parents reconsider bringing children here. If they know they won't be able to afford them forever. If it becomes enough of a 'trend', perhaps things will start to shift.

I suppose AI will start really making an impact soon too with fewer jobs to actually go after in the first place! I pity young people trying to find work now. It was difficult when I started out. I dread to think what it's like now. Another argument for anti-natilism really. Why put your child through all that?
