Just wanted to see what everyone's pain threshold is, I've noted possible methods next to it using the pain scale from lostallhope and a bit of modification with our community. 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest. How much pain would you be willing to tolerate to achieve death. I know for me I have a high pain tolerance, but not enough to go with fire.

I'm surprised how high electrocution is. I've shocked myself on 120V a lot of times and it's never painful at all. although I've never had it actually go through my heart where it could be dangerous, only through my arm or hand. If it weren't for how dangerous it would be for whoever finds you I would have thought it could be a great way to ctb. anyway i know for sure i couldn't handle drowning so i went with 5.

Full should be higher than partial...
If done right, full should sometimes break your neck or that rapid compression of your carotids would make you pass out completely. Partial and full are close together in level, but partial is higher due to how long it sometimes takes plus the onset of a sudden headache.

Full and partial should make you pass out in around the same time period if done correctly, no? Btw, you don't break the neck with full suspension from what I've read.

And shouldn't gunshot to head be a 0? I'm assuming all of the methods are done correctly.

I put drowning because I'm assuming it's far less painful if combined with drugs to knock you unconscious.

I picked 10, although I wouldn't drink sulphuric acid, that's just daft. And it wouldn't taste nice. I have an extremely high pain tolerance though.

I would like F or H OD.
But really hanging sounds more easy to do.

Google, "Man drinks sulfuric acid" there's a nice medical writeup plus pictures of the damage inside.

I would like to try the gunshot to the head but I feel like my hand will be shaking too much and I will miss. Always get so panicked when I'm very close to the goal.

Just did. Looks like what happens after you've eaten a fish supper from a Scottish chipshop.

2. I'm a pussy and I want this shit over with.

But apparently not too pussy to jump since that is my 3rd method of choice in ctb.

Are heroin overdoses really that painless. People say they look horrific. The whole shaking and eyes open. Or maybe that's just in the movies.

Heroin OD's are painless, the seizures and all that is happening when you're not fully there or unconscious.

@Symbiote How come partial is more painful than full suspension hanging ?

I wonder where stabbing yourself in the neck fits in this threshold.

If you do it right, gunshot should be relatively painless, right? Hit the brain stem, and it's lights out.

I chose 6, partial suspension, since that is one of my combined methods that my plan involves.

I believe i can handle that level of pain, or even higher... but i would not drown myself... i have a thing about drowning and not going that way.

You would think, right? Because you wouldn't have much time to process the pain that has occurred.

I read somewhere that you do have a few instants of agony where you do feel it- but not long- i went and tried to find the source of that info but couldn't find it to refer it to you, my apologies.

Can anyone verify that? Does a person feel the pain of a gunshot to the head for a couple of instants before death? Or is it that quick?

I think you would have to ask somebody who successfully shot themself in the head.

Whenever a survivor of a gun shot suicide talks about the incident they never talk about the pain. They just talk about either the loud sound of the gunshot or screams of the people who find them. At least from what i've seen/heard in documentaries about such. They could be in shock though.

This is just a guess, but I think you're talking about people who shot their faces off. If you shoot yourself and hit the brainstorm, there is no way you're going to survive that.

Depends on how desperate I am. Limit would probably be full suspension

Yeah,I'm talking about the ones who sadly ended up disfigured. Though this one guy was lucky enough not to suffer too much damage. It only looks bad in the thumb nail.

3:25 is when he talks about after the shot.

my pain tolerance is extremely high but this is not good as ODs and SN do not work on me :/
ive also been electrocuted (not on purpose unfortunately) somewhere around amc-3 2s? i know there was some possible long term effects but i luckily did not get any. it hurt. but i survived and i dont really have trauma? ...it could be my suicidalness........but eh? so i put fire just in case

sulphuric acid definitely is... festive and with my knowledge of drinking bleach..... :[ id rather not drink the forbidden soda and stick with fire

The great irony is that most of us are willing to bear extraordinary torment and suffering, even if it's primarily psychological compared to the physical agony of dying.

I really do wonder which one is worse. 60 years of psychological agony or 10 minutes of nausea, discomfort, panic, and physical pain.

@Symbiote I noticed you didn't include jumping from a height, which is prevalent (and usually the preferred method) where I live. Don't know about the pain, but from what I heard death can be pretty instantaneous. (Perhaps a few seconds of excruciating pain?) That is, if the height is sufficient, and there's nothing to break your fall.
