i'm curious to know if you have ever considered this method, why/why not, your opinions on it etc

Probably the most available method in any country. Also in my opinion one of the hardest to actually fight SI on. If you have nothing else, it's pretty easy to set up though. Would be up there as a back-up method for me. Depends on your needs / location.

It is my backup if I can't get partial or CO to work. I know it will be painful, but from what I've seen on gore sites, it only takes a minute for you to lose consciousness. People have been CTBing this way for hundreds of years, and it is the most popular CTB method in the world, along with partial.

That said, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone; there are peaceful methods availabe to most people. Hanging always leave a gruesome corpse too. CTBing this way is not a decision to be made lightly.

It's more successful than partial, I definitely considered it. The set up is harder and thats what holds me back. If partial fails, I will probably reconsider.

If you've got the means to do it, then it's very successful since you can't 'back out' once you've started.

There's no place I could do it in my home, so it'd need to be partial for me. I have a walk in closet that has a metal bar going across it. I did a test once to see if it'd take my weight and the bar bent, so I don't think that's an option.

I tried full/partial today. The way my set up was that I tied the rope to a rail in my cupboard, then pulled the rope over the door and made a noose. Then stood on the chair. Then hopped off.

First of all it was very sore on my neck but didn't make me choke. The tingling starting straight away in my fingers and toes, progressed to my arms and legs very quickly. SI kicked in and I was trying to pull the rope away from my neck but to no avail. Then the way I set up up anchor point, one of the knots slipped and I ended up back on my feet. I was still convulsing and twitching a bit as I stood on my feet but that stopped pretty quick.

It just depends if you can overcome the SI. I felt so ready to go but in that last moment obviously not.

For me personally hanging isn't an option at all. It may work fine, painless and quick, if the setup is perfect, but i guess in most cases it's not and then it can cause pain and suffocation for quite some time and SI kickin in hard.

I prefere more peaceful methods.

Planned well, it is fast and successful.
Use a nice rope at least as thick as your thumb and an easy sliding slip knot. Done right, you should be out in a few seconds. Gravity does all the work.
