It will be here soon. What is your favorite thing about it?

For me it's drinking eggnog. I generally dislike this time of year and feel more suicidal around the holidays, but I really enjoy the eggnog. So tasty.

I hate the Christmas season with a fucking passion. Obviously I can see why Christians would celebrate it and why it's a big deal for them, and I respect that, but that's not what I'm referring to when I talk about the Christmas season as it's dealt with in mainstream society – I'm talking about all of the other BS.

I hate the consumerism, the greed, the escalated amount of innocent animals that are brought into the world to live a life of torture only to be killed for food in the name of "tradition", how particularly overworked and underpaid retail employees are and all of the shit they have to deal with, the dumbass debate about whether to say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays", the same stupid music about snow and sleigh bells and mistletoe, the obnoxious parades, the constant pressure, all of the nonsense about one fucking day and how it has to be perfect and "magical"... I can't stand any of it. Exhausting to even watch.

This year there will be Christmas market in my city so I'll be going there after work with friends. I don't usually drink alcohol but Glühwein is delicious. I also like the roasted chestnuts and garlic bread.

I have fond memories of Christmas as a child. I even enjoyed the Christmas season well into my 50's.
At 62, all I can say now is "Bah Humbug"

There is nothing. I despise Christmas, it is the worst time of year. However for me it is my ideal time of year to ctb. Christmas is horrible. Everything associated with it annoys and irritates me. It is also my birthday around then which is a day I dislike. In previous years many bad things have happened to me in December so I have lots of awful memories.

If I was a kid I'd say school vacations, meeting my relatives, and getting gifts. I also enjoyed buying gifts for other people. And opening presents together with everyone. And giving gifts to my little doggy. Letting her sniff her present, letting her tear it open, seeing her get excited. Fuck, I can't live without her. It would be her birthday in a month and I'd get her a birthday present. One time when I went to the town's animal item shop, the shopkeeper was nice and gave me a free gift to bring her. I miss going to the shop too.

Now I really don't care anymore. Every Christmas is worse and worse. Relatives die, friends move away, less presents, less doggy, less excitement, only boredom and suffering.

And the Christmas songs can go fuck themselves.

I like that it's dark early that time of year, but otherwise I don't like it. By far the most depressing time of year, when you realize another miserable year has almost gone by and another year will begin all over again, bringing the same. I also hate all the forced optimistic feel good bullshit and the social pressure to go along with that.

I love how cold it gets. Having cold weather have a bite is better to deal with than having to deal with the heat. Winter is my favorite season for that reason. Plus, I love snow and how beautiful my neighborhood looks with a fresh coat of snow, it's like a winter wonderland. It almost takes me back to a time long past.

The main reason though is I love Christmas. Just for one day, all the stress, sadness, and bad thoughts go away and for that day, I can go back to being a kid.

Wrapping up in a blanket, sipping some hot chocolate, and playing whatever christmas events are going on in the games I play. TF2 is really fun around Christmas time. Sometimes I substitute hot cocoa with Monster Energy ultra watermelon because the can is red and green to match the holidays.

I used to like sitting in my father's chair watching the lights slowly blink on the tree and smell the pine. Back then the lights were large and only a few "blinker" bulbs were on each strand - and they blinked every 10-15 seconds versus the seizure-causing hyper-blinking bulbs sold today.

Gifting myself some presents, trying out new recipes, cooking my favorite recipes, curling up in thick blankets and fuzzy pajamas; reading some winter-themed books, perhaps watch some winter-themed movies and/or shows; and drinking sweet herbal tea and/or warmed chocolate non-dairy milk. Like every other special occasion, I enjoy Christmas to the fullest in solitude.

Sometimes the holidays lead to memory cues for me, where I can remember what it was like to feel excitement, anticipation, and joy as a kid around holiday times.

Those feelings are things I haven't properly felt in decades, with blunted affect and all. Sad as the contrast is, the brief memories of what those feelings felt like... that's rare and nice to me.
