So other than probably neck break? But this is all as far as I understand so I may be very wrong.

I had a half attempt at choking myself and ended up passing out. Only woke up as I did it standing (didn't expect to pass out in seconds) and fell face first. Woke up choking on my blood.

Question is, would that have killed me had I just laid in bed/not been found for hours? How is that more or less effective than hanging?

Sorry for the stupid question

Interesting.

How did you do it? Could you describe some details if you like? How long did it take, to pass out? Tingling? Any other sensations?

I apologise if this is not allowed but what I did:

I tried a few times before but only got light headed and nothing. But I got a resistance exercise band and put my head through the loop and then just started going around and around till I couldn't. Plan was to do it and then pull out when I started fading but had no time. The only difference I realise this time was I put a pillow case between my skin and the band to avoid friction and put it higher up (just below my chin/above Adams apple). I felt light headed and then boom. I only remember waking up off the ground grasping and throwing up what I later realised was blood. The room, floor, my face was a massacre. Had to get stitches on my face and everything.

I guess it got me thinking if I hadn't done it 'just to see and then pull out' (how stupid is that?) and lied in bed, would I have died or just remained passed out? What's the time limit?

I tried partial, it was just too much of a choking sensation. I'll probably go gun or hanging but night night you don't have that choking sensation. Probably why a lot of people back off. Same reason (Almost) no one dies purposefully from drowning. It's an evolutionary instinct that will kick in no matter how fu#$ed up you are.

But night night (correct me if I got the wrong method) is the one where your airways are pressured right? I didn't get that choking sensation or feel it for more than 5 seconds before blacked out.

If it was that easy and the only reason I woke up is cos I was choking on my own blood rather than lying down face up, surely this is the best way to go (unless you have access to guns etc.)? It was 'quick'.

My concern is if I did that as an actual attempt, would that have killed me had I been left in that state for even 5/10 mins?

There isn't a difference between it if you do it correctly. At no point is the airway supposed to be constricted, you're aiming for the carotid artery on the right side. The only difference between the two methods is that hanging uses your body weight and gravity to close the artery enough, and using the weight of say a cornhole bag over artery. The reason it's so appealing is because you're able to breathe and 10 seconds to pass out. There isn't supposed to be any blood and certainly not breaking anything

Yeah thought so, thanks. Only reason I bled was cos I collapsed as I did it standing up... wasn't meant to CTB then. Was more a practice/pull out when I felt like I was going to faint but had no time

Night night would be more accurately pressing on the carotid arteries. Partial hanging is just applying pressure all around the neck and hoping you have enough to compress the carotid arteries. Though padding can be used with partial as well to make pressing on the carotid arteries more effective.

Gotcha. That's overkill imo, the same results can be achieved sitting, kneeling or even laying down. The pressure in weight is only like 15 lbs at the most
